Vintage Seiko Service?

Post by matt.wu » Wed Sep 11, 2013 11:31 pm

Anybody got recommendations on reliable Seiko service? Looking for a place to send a 6105-8000?

Want somewhere that'll do it right, keep it original as possible, and won't take two years.

Oh, and I won't work with the so-called, self-proclaimed "Dr. Seiko".

You're right. I forgot to add that as well. I won't work with those who are completely incompetent.

I thought Terry just opted for the "self cleaning crystal" option.

Jack has done 2 6105 restorations for me. It isn't quick, but he'll do it right. Just ask him his turn-around time.

Jack@IWW has done a few 6105's for me and the work has always been excellent. Never waited more than a few months. Any of these guys that aren't a little busy probably aren't all that good.

A 6-9 month quote on a movement service from Jack is the norm now.

I sent him my 6105-8000 at the end of February, and he had told me "about" 6 months at the time.

I checked in with him by email at the end of July, at which time he'd told me "a few weeks out", and they were into January stuff at the time.

While I would be glad to hear that it's ready, I'm not inclined to kick up a fuss as long as it's done right.
Although if it stretches out another 2 months I might feel differently . . .

Sweet. He probably tossed it in the POS queue.

He for real forgot about it. We have some pretty funny emails back and forth. He had no clue which watch was mine- I asked if he sold it on eBay.

He probably modded it and sold it to a Seiko newb.

I believe this is it now:

How about Jason at the tick tock shop I know you used him before. What I did with mine was have a local guy service it and it also needed lume work that I had Jack do cut the turn around time in halve.
