Been going out of control on Ships clock another incomming.

After getting that US Shipping Board Pilot house clock and saw the quality of the larger size these are heavy clocks had to use a 75-pound rated pitcher frame hook and find the stud in the wall to hang it on the wall. Well saw another Pilot House clock for sale but a US Navy one. The second bit or second hand in a different spot than the US Shipping Board pilot house clock. They don't come up for sale often so bought it. Will be the last deck clock I buy. These are the crown jewels of deck clocks now I have two different verities of the pilot house clocks. This one was made in 1919 just after WW1. Might even let some deck clocks go. Been told these were on capital ships like aircraft carries and battle ships on the bridge and officer's wardroom.


See the second hand in a deferent spot on both clocks.

Great thing about these there American made. Just wished the company was more on the ball with their history. Only info Chelsea can tell you the date of manufacture and who bought it. I got more info on one of my US Navy deck clock No3 from the NAWCC. Here is a company that sort of lost its history.

Received it today nicer in person just intime for veterans' day. There was a piece missing called a reflector a circle piece of metal along the edge of the dial was able to find one should get that next week.

My clock might be older maybe made in August 1918. Just got this book called Chelsea Clock Company the first 100 years. Has stuff from the record books from Chelsea. My serial number is 123128 if you look at the page below most likely made in August 1918 so might of saw a little service in WW1. If you think of all the manufactures of timepieces in the USA a 100 years ago of watch and clock companies Chelsea clock company the last one standing it survived while the others did not. Think there were separate books for clocks sold to the US Navy the page below I think stuff sold to civilian companies.

Well got the part that was missing on the dial. It was called a reflector. I guess on the newer clock the holes on the reflector are in a different spot so had to drill new hole to fit right. One thing about these larger Chelsea Pilot House Clocks they have such wall presence and just stand out just like they did when they were put in important parts of the ship like the pilot house or in officers' country.

Below a photo from the USS New Mexico a battleship my grandad was on that ship. A photo of the wardroom from that ship the time period my clock was put on capital ships like this might even be from this ship. But in the photo, you can see a pilot house clock on the builkhead. Officers always ate better than us enlisted even a 100 years ago.
