WW1 era US Shipping Board Chelsea Pilot House Clock
WW1 era US Shipping Board Chelsea Pilot House Clock
Been wanting a pilot house clock for a while. There the largest made deck clock at 10 inches in diameter and rare. The US Shipping board in WW1 was like the US Maritime Commission in WW2 that took all the supplies and troops overseas. Almost mint condition. Movement and case serial numbers match a plus. will go with my other two WW1 era US Navy Clocks. Made around 1915-1918.

Dave your about the only one on the forum that would know what that Clinometer is. Also, from WW1 and US Navy issue this is on the back.
Same issue numbers as on the two smaller clocks.

The clinometer tells the degrees of the rolls the ship is doing at sea. And you never want to see it at 70 degrees then you're in a big storm only seen it once in a typhoon then you find out what those seat belt type straps are for in your rack where you sleep to hold you in, so you don't roll out and hit the deck. There normally on the bridge. Here is another from WW2 also remember ones that had glass tubes with a curved arch fluid filled with a small air bubble that would move with the roll to tell the degrees on my last ship will find one of those one of these days.toxicavenger wrote: ↑Fri Nov 03, 2023 8:47 pmWay cool Mike, and no I do not know what a inclinometer is. lol
