Have another incoming

Post by River Rat » Wed Jun 02, 2021 10:11 am

I been wanting to ad a cool vintage diver I added one but it has a little cool factor and was cheap in price. But wanted one that really had the BIG cool factor and price on the ones I think got it are not cheap any more. There were two I was looking at a Technos 500m sky diver and a Caravelle Sea Hunter Ref. 665-1 that has the same dial and hands as the early vintage Longines diver that Longines just did a reissue. A original vintage Longines diver at auction over 30,000 but the remake about 2800 the Caravelle Sea Hunter Ref. 665-1 a better deal they look the same and cheaper than the reissue. The seller communication for the Caravelle Sea Hunter Ref. 665-1 about the stuck bezel ring on eBay with no reply. Made me buy the Technos. Both had original bracelets the case size on the Technos was bigger a plus. I think the dial and the sweep second hand and big crown are cool. Will post photo's when I get it got it off a forum. I got it for a better price than any I saw on fleabay.

If no one has never seen a Technos Sky Diver 500 M here is one that sold at Hodinkee but I paid a lot less always cost more when you go through the middle man.

It was the one at the MWR PX. Did a search of eBay prices and that that one Hodinkee sold and it beat there prices. And got him to lower the price a little about a 100 off that about covered shipping. He had good feed back at the mwr PX. Should get it later in the week or next week.

If it was Reck's (rekness), he's a good guy. I've bought several watches from him over the years.

Yes that's who I got it from. He has a real nice early Seiko diver Silver wave for a hell of a price another one I was thinking about surprised that did not sell yet.

Uses the same case as the polerouter sub with same big crown. Just the Technos is cheaper to get.

Cal. 2472 30 jewel with date automatic movement, 20mm lugs, 37.5mm case with large crown with no crown guard case. The original bead of rice bracelet rare you see a lot with out. With distinctive second hand and hour and minute hands and large hour marks for more easy to read dial for a diver. Watch was made around 1965-1968. Next watch to get service after I get my Hanhart 417 back that's in for a repair right now.

Out of all my vintage watches I sort of like this one the best it's not the most valuable in the collection. But think it has the coolest look of them all. One thing I look for is a interesting dial and hands and case this checks all those boxes the dial marks and hands are different than most watches I like the large dial marks and hands the second hand looks like a spear with lume clear down the center. When you get old like a lot of us how many can read there watch with out glasses you can with this one. The original bead of rice bracelet very cool with the bracelet thin case at the right size not like a alarm clock size it's one of those watches you some times forget you have on due to it's lightness. The no crown guard case with BIG crown just cool. I look for the cool factor hard to believe this is over 60 years old some times I think watch companies of today have lost there way when you look at what they use to make years ago. And after a service keeps great time like any modern watch of today.

I picked up this interesting ad on the Technos Skydiver from eBay. I guess the US model had the 17 jewel movement Americans got short changed while the rest of the world got a 30 jewel movement take a look at the American ad. Yes we had trade wars even in the 1960's because America was still making watches at this time foreign watch companies were stuck only sending 17 jewel movements I think they paid a higher tax for more jewel count. Like the Glycine Airman special was made with lower jewel count for the American market. We got short changed back then when other countries were getting more superior watches. Kind of glad mine came from Hong Kong because it's a 30 jewel movement. A little American watch history on imported watches. I think if they tried to pull this shit today I think watch nuts of America would be raising hell.
