Accutron Nipples

Picked up this vintage Deep Sea on the cheap and noticed something(s) odd. There is a nipple protruding from the center of the signed crown at 4:00, and one from the side of the bezel at 8:41 when the (missing) lume dot is lined up at twelve. Weird.
What gives? Anyone know what's up with this?
