Eberhard Scafograf 1000mt

Post by Gatt » Fri Dec 26, 2014 11:33 pm

Hello guys, here is a vintage quartz divers watch you seldom see. It is a 1000mt quartz divers watch sold by Eberhard, Breitling and Scubapro around 1985.

It measures 40,5mm without crown with a 13mm thickness. The nicely done SS bracelet, with a very smooth finish, has a quick release mechanism and is fixed to the case by four allen screws.

The bezel is easily replaceable unscreweing by four allen screws. Breitling models had two bezels, a stainless steel one and an acrylic black one. Eberhard models had only the SS one. They had two types of bracelets as well, SS and rubber one.

The watch has a very distinctive HRV. When the dot on the caseback is aligned with a dot on the case it means that the caseback gasket is able to release the helium. First time I see anything like that.

The watch came back some days ago form servicing by Eberhard, here in Milan, with a spare NOS bezel. Ready for diving ;)

Here are some pictures. The last one is of the Breitling model, with acrylic bezel and rubber bracelet.

That's really cool. Never seen that one before.

I also never seen that one. Cool how they use to come with a complete kit and pouch. I saw a few other brands that did this one I can't remember the brand name that was a quartz diver were you can switch the main section with dial and movement to different cases that had rubber straps and bracelets you talk about easy strap and bracelet change and came with a leather pouch like the one that Eberhard has.

Damn Federico, that is one killer Eberhard. With full kit no less! I've always liked vintage Scafographs - how can you not with that cool name?! Great score my friend.

Hey Steve ;) , the kit has a wrench for opening the caseback and an allen key for changing the bracelet and the bezel. The original tag shows a price of 1.600.000 italian lire of 1985. During 1985 you needed about 1.800 lire to buy 1 USD. Pretty expensive for a quartz watch.
