OK so I finally found some help on this watch and figured out how to attach pics.
The help came from Paul over at Electric Watches who knows his way around this watch and expertly helped me disassemble it. I really can't thank him enough. And no I did not make the foolish mistake of draining the oil!
As I received the watch the view of the excellent dial was somewhat hazy....a combination of light surface scratches and vaporized oil on the underside of the crystal. I really wanted to replace it but Aquadive failed to come through on their promise of a new one. So my next best option was to remove it and give it a polish...an arduous task but I've done it before. However on this watch the crystal is retained on the inside requiring a special tool.
Failing to locate the correct tool I made my own.
I used the bits from a case back opener however they were not hard enough and I was unable to budge the ring. I could still polish the crystal if I could remove the bezel but I couldn't figure how to do that safely so I resorted to hand polishing with diamond paste...not ideal but improved the crystal to a satisfactory level.
I found the movement quite tricky to adjust on the timegrapher but with perseverance achieved 0s/d face up on my night strand but gaining 10s/d on the wrist. I guess acceptable for a 40 yo watch.
I love the engineering gone into this watch combining 2 precision instruments in one (massive) housing.
This watch is truly a beast....HUGE on the wrist but surprisingly comfortable. And the dial is very cool 70's reminding me of the speedometer from a 70 Mustang complete with depth gauge hand representing the fluorescent orange needle typical of the period.

Cool you got it running again 
I have a Hamilton Electric RR special That I need to get running again tried a battery and it still giving me problems. Probably needs a service. Has the 505 electric movement. These were the first battery powered watches way way before quartz watches
