'72 Royal Navy Issued Hamilton Chrono

Post by Heuerville » Sat Dec 14, 2013 4:42 pm

I picked this up in the last few days.. my first British Mil watch.. it has the issue no. '0552', signifying Royal Navy, issued in '72.
Tonight I knocked up a leather Zulu for it, as it has fixed lugs. I'm pleasantly surprised with it.. its a nice size, at about 39-40mm with the crown, has a nice low profile and has a rock solid feeling about it.

The dial print is kinda gilt-ish silvery too.. hard to capture in a photo.

That looks great. Was Hamilton still an American company at that time?

Started off American. I don't know when they became a Swiss company. I'll Google it.

Thanks Mike.

CGS - You're right - Hamilton = US company. Acquired Swiss Buren in 66, and ran a joint US/Swiss company until 72.

Wow. The warm color of the tritium is great. Really like this one, fixed lug pins are cool. The best part is the contemporary size.

Wow that's gorgeous.
"30ish years of martial arts and I've actually had the honor of training lots of LEO, spec ops and even SEAL team 6 on base, fitness training, not martial arts, but still the coolest thing I've done.

Full on egg head corporate job and I fly quite a bit so I'm really looking forward to adding to my collection of TSA friendly self defense tools. I have amcouple tactical pens, but I want to up the game and get into some custom stuff. Been watch obsessed for a while but this seems more fun.

Thanks for letting me play! "

Congrats, that is definitely one of the nicest vintage Hamiltons I've seen. The thinness of that watch must make it really comfortable to wear.
