WW2 Smiths Royal Navy mantle clock

I bought this off eBay last month took a while to get to me. Got it today.





The issue marks with Navy marking and the Navy base it came from. Seller photo better than mine.

Here it is next to my RAF Elliot mantle clock for size comparison. During WW2 materials was hard to get. See how clocks went from wooden cases with fusee movement to a smaller case with a Bakelite case and none complicated none fusee movement. But both are eight-day movements. Been on my want list for years over at MWR forum they use to post past eBay sells and remember seeing these there they don't do that anymore there. These show up less on eBay saw this one at a great price and had some great issue marks so bought it. It was most likely used in a office on base pendulum clocks don't work well on ships due to its never level on board.

There is a screw on the pendulum you raise the bob up and down to adjust the speed of the clock. All clocks that have pendulums adjust that way.
