Do people actually dive with a Rolex?

Post by Emiliadavid » Mon Sep 06, 2021 11:43 pm

In the 1960s, Rolex and Doxa constructed watches with unique valves to permit the escape of helium from interior watch cases at some point of decompression. Helium release valves at the moment are commonplace in so-known as professional diving watches, in spite of how few humans really need them or actually apprehend their purpose.

Nobody needs a watch to dive with anymore - everyone uses a dive computer to maximize dive time these days. Watches worn during diving are for nostalgia and because “you can”. I always use to say I wore mine for backup, but I never had my dive computer go out and if it had, I’d have surfaced for safety reasons anyway.

My dive computer lets me customise the display so I have the fields allocated to various depth, gas info, tissue saturation, TTS, etc, and use my dive watch for elapsed time. Always prefered the watch for tracking EDT.
