$2400
According to my bank website, the $2400 is scheduled to hit the account 4/15.
A shame how long it will take, if ever, for so many others to receive the money.

Re: $2400
The size of the check will decrease based on income for individuals who earned more than $75,000 based on their federal tax return for 2019 (or their 2018 return if they have not filed yet). The payment for individuals will shrink by $5 for every $100 earned over $75,000. For couples who filed jointly, the reduction will start once they earn more than $150,000; for heads of household, at $112,500.
Individuals who earned more than $99,000 and couples who earned more than $198,000 jointly will not receive checks. The income cut-off for heads of households is $136,500.
You will also receive $500 for each child under the age of 17 you claim on your taxes.

No check here but that's cool. I would hope they go to where they are needed and not to people who currently don't need it. . Lots of people in tough situations right now.

I’m still working and receiving paycheck so I’ll gladly pass on the check. Many many others need it more than I do.
Regarding the cut-off, many folks living in the more expensive areas of the country won’t receive checks but also won’t consider themselves wealthy. It’s a trade off.

Oh I know the rules. The income phaseout is too low, especially in higher cost areas where incomes are higher. I know very few folks who qualify for even a little of the stimulus.mattcantwin wrote:The size of the check will decrease based on income for individuals who earned more than $75,000 based on their federal tax return for 2019 (or their 2018 return if they have not filed yet). Re: $2400
I think we’re getting some, but only because my wife doesn’t work and, due to my start date at work, it’s based on around eight months of salary.

Yeah, you nix a large swath of the coasts by setting specific numbers for the entire nation.andrema wrote:Oh I know the rules. Re: $2400
We don’t qualify either since we sold the mtn house last year and the profit is added to our adjusted gross income.
Personally, I think the $1200 is the wrong approach and is not nearly enough to sustain people who’ve lost their jobs but still have mouths to feed and bills to pay, but are being told to isolate. They should have just done something like 60-80% of normal income (kind of like short term disability) when people file for unemployment. They’d need to do something similar for self employed folks who lost work, which would be trickier, but I’m sure smarter people than me could figure it out.

Re: $2400
They raised unemployment dramatically. The $1200 isn’t really for people who lost their jobs. It’s a crumb for those who haven’t but are still struggling.BacoNoir wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2020 4:24 pmWe don’t qualify either since we sold the mtn house last year and the profit is added to our adjusted gross income.

That is exactly what is being offered in addition to this, but it’s not being publicized.BacoNoir wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2020 4:24 pmWe don’t qualify either since we sold the mtn house last year and the profit is added to our adjusted gross income.

That’s paid leave for people with COVID. I heard unemployment was upped to or by (?) $600/wk or something like that. Never been on unemployment but looked into it once a long time ago and it wasn’t much at all.Torrid wrote:That is exactly what is being offered in addition to this, but it’s not being publicized.BacoNoir wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2020 4:24 pmWe don’t qualify either since we sold the mtn house last year and the profit is added to our adjusted gross income.

Re: $2400
It covers people out due to the shutdown. My wife qualifies because the kids can’t go to school and we don’t have daycare. She also has an essential job which is bow how my job is classified but she can’t work because we don’t have other child arrangements and I work on a 2 hour call.BacoNoir wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2020 5:29 pmThat’s paid leave for people with COVID. $2400
We’re getting all of it and most people I know are too. I guess being middle class in a flyover state helps.
Me and my wife are still getting paid- but this is a stimulus check. So we are paying my brother in-law, a small custom contractor, to re-do our countertops and make our island bigger. His business is going to slow quite a bit after his current build. Two families backed out of, or postponed their houses because their retirements tanked and they don’t feel comfortable building a new house.
Hopefully a lot this money will go to small business and communities.
