Guess who got a job again?
I start as a tasting room associate at TerraVin Cellars on Friday.
When we started talking about retirement years ago, I joked we needed to retire to wine country so one of us could get a job at a tasting room to we could get the wine industry discount - usually 20-25% off - so we could afford to drink good wine in retirement.
The winemaker heard me last summer say I might be interested in doing it sometime down there road and he called me out of the blue this morning. Cory makes the best wine in the valley in my opinion and I’m pretty excited. It’s just on Fridays for now and that’s fine with me.
Funny how things work out.

Congratulations. That would be on my list of retirement jobs for sure.

Dude, you fell into a great gig!

Thanks! Getting paid to taste wine and talk about it - definitely a dream job.

Jealous! I fully intend to work as a bartender at some point in my life. Wine tasting associate is high on the list as well.

I started as a bouncer, then bartended, and ended as an assistant manager of a bar while in college. Lots of late nights, then heading out for drinks afterwards meant driving home at sunrise sometimes. I did like working in the bars - we had a great team, but the night hours are hard.
Thanks guys. Excited about my first day and am studying up on our AVAs so I can help the guests learn about the area.

DWC GTG!
Seriously though, we should make one happen at some point. Had a good friend unexpectedly pass this weekend after getting her truck broadsided by a driver blowing through a red light.
Life’s too short, and some folks on the forum have “known” each other for 16+ years!

I’ve been to a couple associated with another small forum and they were fun. We met in Vegas once and Dallas the other time. Vegas has damn near every major watch brand available.

Yup - the last DWC GTG I attended was on a submarine.

Wait, so you get paid to drink? I don't drink, and I know nothing about wine, but I wonder if there are retirement opportunities in weed testing?

I was thinking the same thing even though I can't stand wine or champagne. Weed testing

Guys, it’s legal here too and part of my bedtime routine.
First day on the job is in the books and it was fun. I need to learn the point of sale system in more detail to split checks, etc.

Congrats, seems like a dream job. I mentioned it to my wife, and she's ready to come out of retirement.
