Fake Planet Ocean - very convincing

Post by dnslater » Tue Feb 05, 2013 10:32 am

Stumbled upon this review and didn't realize it was a fake watch until halfway down. Scared the hell out of me and I had to give my own PO a good look, but mine glows like a torch. Also the rep has a green tint to the lume in full light. What are the other give aways on this one? Usual tells are not there (He valve, happy feat, etc...)I am wearing mine as we speak and it is very close.

I couldn't tell, I do know they changed the font when they went from 2500c to 2500d movement.

Not sure if they changed the font on the 2500d, but they changed some of the numerals.but here the datewheel sits to "deep", just looks wrong  IMHO

I hope the fucking assholes doing these fakes and the pieces of shit buying them all die a horrible death. This stuff really pisses me off.

Back on topic, the bezel font looks all jacked up too. Look at the 50. And the date wheel does look wrong too. Otherwise it is too close for comfort. The fact the guy touts a serial number and of all things a caseback with anti counterfeit seal really chaps my ass.

Along the lines of the bezel-if you look at the insert relative to the teeth on the bezel I believe a line on the insert should line up with either a tooth or a space on the bezel. I think 42mm an insert line lines up with a tooth and the 45mm an insert line lines up with a gap. It should be consistent all the way around and on the fake the insert lines and bezel teeth are all over the place.

I don't mind people who wear fakes as long as they know they are buying junk and if asked, will say it isn't real. I know nobody will agree, that's just my 2 cents...

The bracelet and clasp also lack the typical Omega finish. The holes for the pins also look like shit. At first glanse it looks good, but it all adds up.

That forum is a horror show. Didn't know fake watch forums existed. Later on someone posted it on WUS to see if the Omega experts could tell if it was fake. Most could not:

http://forums.watchuseek.com/f441/want- ... 47773.html

The best part is that the OP posted an update at the end of the thread that his crown stripped after a month or two. He sent it back to the fake dealer and demanded replacement and the dealer "fixed" it and sent back the same watch with the same issues. He had the balls to complain about the (fake watch) seller because he wasn't reputable and didn't stand behind his fake ass merchandise. Horror show. The irony is palpable.

Just did a comparison with mine and the "S" in Seamaster is narrower and more open on the fake than mine.
