Norton, McAfee, Bitdefender, Other?

I need to buy an anti-virus software program for my wife's PC, running Windows 10.

The computer came with Kaspersky when purchased, which recently expired.


Most reviews put McAfee and Norton at the top.


Looking for some help in choosing the right program.

I never pay for anti virus. Ive been using the free version of AVG for years and have had good results

i just use windows defender and avoid obvious bad security behavior. been solid for a few years and free.

I was an Avast user for years but the last version seemed to slow my computer down substantially. I now use Avira which is free.

Same here and use to use the free version of AVG. Both kept us virus free.

Windows Defender in Windows 10 is the best version they ever made. Some reviews say it is on par with the others.

Yep what they said. Stick with a free Avast or AVG. They don't have a ton of bloatware attached to it.

I have used Sophos for years. Great product. Bloatware/Spyware free. No foreign govt surveillance issues.

My 2 cents worth - Kaspersky. Even the 3 girls have it and (touch wood) all remains well. I do pay, but worth the peace of mind.

I’ve used Windows defender for the past couple of years and I’m happy with it. My wife’s computer came with Avast, I had to delete and move to windows defenders after it caused some kind of conflict that was using almost all the computer’s resources.

Barclays Bank stopped issuing Kaspersky recently...

"Barclays has stopped offering free Kaspersky anti-virus products to new customers following an official warning about Russian security software"

Not sure if this is of any interest!

Best Buy no longer offers it, either.

Working in IT, I'm in and out of customers servers and workstations daily. I use Windows Defender on my Win 10 Pro laptop, no issues and I watched it trap threats. Uninstall Kaspersky, use CCleaner to clean up the mess it leaves behind and us WD. It updates itself and does a great job, for free btw.

i dig the new firefox. doesn't hog resources like chrome does and runs just as if not almost faster.

But they broke the coolest add-on; "Tab Mix Plus" and the pinned tabs are too wide and cannot be resized anymore.
