Got this strap with my Fortis - is it waterproof? Feels like it should be. Inside is soft, outside feels like plastic mesh.

Nope. Not for sale and I’m not that drunk yet - but I did think that I was posting to the strap forum… fug. It’s my Fortis. It came with this strap. I’m going to Mexico to really get drunk for a few days and want to make sure this strap “swim up” bar compatible.

Mods - can you move this to the right for an idiot please?!?

How much?

You're on the sales forum!

Always liked that Fortis, but I wouldn't wear it to a swim up bar. I'd throw it on rubber or nato.

i think this is embossed vinyl. most strap sells like to call it "sailcloth".

so, continuing to bend the metal of this forum by being an idiot... Is it waterproof? I swapped out for a nato to be safe, but I dig the vibe of the tapered strap. This hobby brings so much responsibility to my simple life.

I’d risk it and just bring a backup NATO.

I think the likely worse case scenario is it’ll just hold water like a sponge and be uncomfortable (at which point you just swap over to the NATO).

The really worst case is the glue holding the strap edges together disintegrates and the strap delaminates. In that case, I’d just be happy I found out it was a crap strap and replace it.

There are a number of sources for that style strap that are fairly affordable.

Thanks Chris - it’s a Fortis strap and I don’t want to trash it. I get the sponge thing. I took it in the shower yesterday and it came out like a wet tampon. I dried it it and the watch is on a nato now, I also have a tan MN for it - just like the look and fit of the sailcloth. But given all the awesome (cough) advice I won’t be at the swim up bar with it.

I get liking the look.

There was a thread on WUS a while back where somebody found a really decent (i.e. pretty much identical to the $100 versions) sailcloth style strap on Ali express. I think it was $9. They put a deployment clasp on it (another sub $10 Ali find) and had a nice looking setup for under $20.

If I can dig up the WUS thread, I’ll put the link here so you can check it out if you’d like.

I'm kind of wishing it was for sale. PVD, t-dial. So cool. But yeah, I'd save the strap since it's the OEM. Is the watch itself water resistant? I used to have one, but I don't remember the WR rating.

I just got it from my best friend. I had to pry it from his fingers! Ya, its waterproof down to 200 meters. It’s a super sharp piece.

200m is great for a pilot watch. Enjoy the bar.
