Houston, I needs some help!

Post by AZpops » Fri Nov 05, 2021 9:46 am

Although I've been wearing the Ninja Tuna for the past year, or so. I still can't get use to Seiko's rubber strap (it seems to get clammy, so I take it off from time to time to air my wrist).

Purchased a 22mm Strapcode DLC Super Engineer I bracelet. Tried installing the bracelet this morning, and the straight end goes in just shy of the half way point (where the pin will hit the lug hole). I think between Seiko's black coating, and the DLC coating on the bracelet is preventing it to go any further. I purchased the DLC in lieu of the PVD for it's durability (?).

Any ideas how I can get the ends to reach the 1/2 way point? I could use a grinder, but would like to avoid doing that, as well as using a hammer and chisel. ...

Thanks!
Lance

I’d sandpaper the coating off the edges of the bracelet end links as a starter. It’s going to scrap off eventually anyhow.

Thanks, gonna pick up some fine grade wet sand paper. Then see how it goes.

Bought the sandpaper (assorted wet/dry grades). The other thing I was thinking about, was to freeze the bracelet for a few days. Then do a press fit sort of thing. But then I figured if it worked, the fit would be so tight, once the bracelet expanded/warmed up it wouldn't swivel. ...

Anyways, as soon as I order my friend's gift. I'll see how it goes!

Thanks again!

It would be so easy if Seiko would make a coated bracelet for the dang watch!

Worked! Used the 850 grit paper.

Thanks! Kind of heavy, but after a couple of days. I don't notice the weight. Lots more comfortable then the rubber strap.
