Omega 2254 - Help needed
Omega 2254 - Help needed
I have the opportunity to buy an Omega 2254 in like new condition with all paperwork and cards from a jewelery store.
The watch was originally purchased in October of 2006, but has been serviced from Omega with paperwork in December of 2010.
Since the watch is for sale in my home state, I will have to pay taxes. The watch is in Houston, and I live close to Dallas, so a face-to-face deal is not feasable.
I have viewed detailed pictures of the watch and paperwork and the watch comes with a 7 day money back gaurentee. I can get the watch for $1450 and that includes shipping and tax.
Is this a good deal?
I have seen these online for less and more, but if the condition pans out, I think this deal is ok. When I came to an agreement on the phone this morning, I told the guy I would call back this afternoon, so I have a little time to talk myself in or out of this deal.
Thanks

Good deal for sure. I'd be all over it personally.

Is that a good price these days? I remember paying around $1200 - 1300 for mine LNIB. That was a year and 1/2 ago.
Great size, classic design --- Great watch!

The deal is done! Should be in the mail this afternoon.
I have wanted this watch for the better part of three years. This was the watch that first drew me to this obsession some years ago. I have passed up deals at brick and mortar stores and have missed out on numerous forum sales. During that time I have bought and sold quite a few, but have always had this watch in the back of my mind.
I know to some this watch may not seem like such a big deal, but let me tell you I am super stoked! Thanks for the encouragement from all of you. I plan on using you guys encouraging words when I break the news to the wife!
Of course my craptastic pics will follow when it arrives.

good news, Joe! nothing like fullfilling a years old quest. this is not an ordinary watch, this is an icon piece, no trivial matter. don't know if that will help with the mrs, but it will be worth it.

2254 is a great piece no doubt about it. You're on your own with the Wife though

Not sure about "great" deal, but I don't think you'll regret it. Peace of mind is worth a lot. Good snag.

Me: (Serious, somewhat worried look) Babe, Could you sit down for a minute, I would really like to talk to you.
Wife: (Searching) . . . OK . . .
At this point we both move to the living room because the kids are in the den. As we walk, my phone rings, and I discuss arrangements for travel/meal with the principal concerning tomorrow's baseball game. As I talk, I walk into the kitchen and stare out the window. The wife continues sitting in the living room waiting. The conversation ends; I walk back into the room. By this point the wife seems noticeable upset.
Me: (Sheepish, searching for words) Well, the reason I, you know, do you remember the last,
Wife: (Interrupting) Please tell me you bought another watch, and that this isn't something serious ?!?
Me: (Stoic, Solemn) I wish it were that simple, honestly, you know I love you, but . . .
That's as far as I got before cracking a smile and explaining that, yes, in fact, I had bought another watch, and it was one that I had coveted for a long time, and it would be a great addition to my collection, and reminding her that I didn't have a motorcycle any longer, and that I really hadn't bought a gun in a couple of years.
Wife: (Smiling) Don't scare me like that!
She then gets up and goes into the kitchen, never once questioning me about the price.
Me: (Evil Grin) Damn, I should have bought a IWC Aquatimer!
Wife: (Searching) . . . OK . . .

Re: Omega 2254 - Help needed
The 2254 is one of the best looking dive watches Omega has ever done since the SM300. I wished I'd bought one sometimes instead of the 2531 but I'm a sucker for blue faced watches.

Re: Omega 2254 - Help needed
FedEx delivered the watch yesterday, I sized the bracelet, and I have wore it since.
The watch is in incredible condition and everything I was hoping for.
Crappy pics and lame write-up to follow.
