Speedy dial question

Post by rockmastermike » Fri Jan 28, 2011 8:46 am

while nosing aroound for a 2254, I keep seeing and becoming attracted to speedies. have always though I needed a date function, but suddenly I am taken by all the buzz aldrin, NASA, space, moonwatch "thing" . anyway, lots aof variants out there as you well know and I think I like the 3570 with the inscription on the case back.

I also like the subdials with the radial, concentric rings in them.....what models have these so I can look at those, too (without having to click on everyone I see?)

thanks
Mike

For me 3570.50 is "The" Speedmaster, others would argue differently though.

+2 on Chris' suggestion of getting up with Safety, he's the expert.

Can't really argue against the moonwatch. There are a bunch of derivatives with colours and subtle changes but most speedy freaks I know have the moonwatch. Definately the one I want.

I just found this thread...
Yeah the concentric circles...standard for OEM dials. SOME replacement dials don't have these so be careful of what you buy. Even the triple dates have them...you can barely make them out on the hour counter. Sorry, but photography is not one of the things I'm good at

Speedy with a Date. Don't knock it, till you've tried it.

I gotta say that the date makes it much more of a daily wearer. However, the look of the classic Speedie Pro dial is simple perfection. I like the Co-Ax too...that's probably a good compromise since the date is so well integrated into the dial. You hardly know it's there.

I think the Speedmaster is such a cool watch...in all its iterations....

Here's my 37 jewel COSC Speedie Broad Arrow 1957..
