Cool isn't it Art?! Guess it's almost like a precursor of what the new
Speedmasters will be like like you are saying. That's neat in itself really.
Thanks so much for that news sir, and so glad you enjoyed this one !
Re: Omega's Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary
It’s nice, but needs a bracelet. And it’s $10K. Those prices just keep climbing. Which is good because I’m ok with my three Speedmasters, and really don’t need another one.
Re: Omega's Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary
I like this one, and it's nice to have the 3861 movement. Not gonna buy it, but it's a nice overall package.
Re: Omega's Speedmaster
Have you seen what the 45th anniversary Silver Snoopy Award Speedy is commanding on the second hand market? It's crazy - I see them listed at $40,000. I'm pretty sure it retailed somewhere in the mid to upper four figures.
Re: Omega's Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary
Yes but this one is a non-LE, subjectively less cool, and I doubt it will command a significant increase over retail on the second -hand market.JBZ wrote:Have you seen what the 45th anniversary Silver Snoopy Award Speedy is commanding on the second hand market? Re: Omega's Speedmaster
Probably right, especially since it's a non-limited edition. The moving snoopy capsule and the rotating earth on the caseback are cool features on this one, even if they serve no practical purpose.dukerules wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 11:38 amYes but this one is a non-LE, subjectively less cool, and I doubt it will command a significant increase over retail on the second -hand market.JBZ wrote:Have you seen what the 45th anniversary Silver Snoopy Award Speedy is commanding on the second hand market? I like it, but still would rather spend that kind of money on a Japan Racing Speedy for example
Re: Omega's Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary
I love it, and will have one!
I think this is the best of the speedmaster LEs. by far. You might say the classic movement speedmasters, but this one rocks.

I really, really like it! Being a non-LE, I will probably be able to grab one later, for less. Have everyone seen the video showing how the case back moves? Really cool.
A friend actually put down a deposit for one, he's still not sure if he will go ahead with the purchase (because its a non-LE).

Can't really blame them, when you see how much is the "white dial" Snoopy commanding in the second hand market.

Re: Omega's Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary
I agree, but if I could go back in time and choose one watch to buy, that Snoopy is the one. It isn't like a Nautilus that was already out of reach for me even before the recent craziness. I could have afforded the Snoopy when it came out, and now I could sell it, re-do my deck and install central air.logan2z wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 1:05 pmYeah,I guess if you think about watches as investments. But I can't wrap my head around not buying a watch one likes because it's not an LE.
So I can see someone hoping that would be replicated, but it definitely won't if this isn't an LE.
Re: Omega's Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary
I'm confused. If it's a 50th Anniversary watch, how is it not an LE? Does "non-LE" simply mean they will not limit production to a specific number or will they continue producing it every year?

I agree with both of you. I dont "invest" in watches, but if I would have been able to grab the white Snoopy (I tried), I might have sold it to make some money. Mind you, I tried to buy it because I liked it... I would have never thought that it would become such an expensive piece down the line.JBZ wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 1:12 pmI agree, but if I could go back in time and choose one watch to buy, that Snoopy is the one. Maybe it will be limited to 2020 production or some number of pieces (5,000?), but its not numbered (at least on the watch), so there is no way to know how many Omega will manufacture.

Re: Omega's Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary
Thanks. I guess similar to the 16610LV where they produced it for the 50th anniversary of the Submariner but it wasn't an LE (since Rolex doesn't really do LE).
Re: Omega's Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary
Yeah, that watch is the very definition of lightning in a bottle. The rise in Rolex prices has been extreme, but it was predictable. While I don't think anyone is surprised that the Snoopy increased in value, the amount by which it has is pretty shocking (at least to me).Joeprez wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 1:33 pmI agree with both of you. Re: Omega's "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary
he may be the smart one. i mean, "waiting for a watch" is a lot less expensive than buying one.

Re: Omega's Speedmaster
Can anyone point me to any sold watches at that price? I searched sold listings on eBay and came up empty. None of the other internet listings in the $40K range are marked 'sold'.
'listed at' is not the same as 'selling for'.
