Is the Planet Ocean's 600m water resistance and the overall case strength compromised by the exhibition caseback as opposed to a solid caseback?

Thanks

Apparently not.

If it were, Omega wouldn’t have put a display back on it at the factory.

Am I missing something here?

You really think omega would have put it out like that if it was an issue

This is one of those sapphire strong as metal casebacks, right?

Never had an exhibition caseback. Only Omega was the Seamaster from the 90's. Rolex, Breitling and Seiko only other owned brands.

Work with us here Ken.....

No glass could possibly be a strong as stainless, but if it were not capable of the stated depth, Omega would not have used a sapphire caseback.

Do you plan to bang the underside of your watch on stuff? Remember, the crystal is the same material.

If sapphire case backs weren’t okay, dive watches would have steel crystals over their dials.

The display back is thicker than the previous metal one. It’s not like they just stuck a piece of glass on it and said “shit, I hope this works”.

Not a Junior Analyst or a troll. I am a 64 year old guy who has been a Financial Advisor since 1991, first working for a major INT'L Firm for 18 years and for the last 9 years for a large Regional firm that allows me to work from my home in Manhattan. I have loved and owned mechanical watches since the age of 37, when I could afford to start buying what I liked, in moderation.

My thought and question was that although the Planet Ocean has a Crystal caseback which has obviously passed muster from Omega as being strong enough to perform its stated functions, am I correct in thinking that a crystal caseback is not as strong as a SS caseback, therefore having an inherent weakness comparatively?

Maybe a foolish question in the opinion of several of those that responded and if so, the hell with ya.

I am sitting at my desk at home brokering stocks and bonds from a mature book of business, sitting in shorts and a t-shirt.

Some tools on the forum.

Thanks.

I hope you're better at stocks than you are at engineering and critical thinking.
