Expensive to be sure, but out of line with other ceramic case/in-house offerings? Unfortunately I don't think so. The DSOTM is $12K. IWC ceramic Pilot's Watch Chronograph is $7550. The Panerai PAM00643 is $8300 and has a 6497-based movement. The SMP also has a ceramic dial.
To be honest I was assuming the price would be in the $10-$12K region before I saw it listed on Hodinkee. I was surprised it was
only $8K
I don't like it enough to buy it but it seems to be priced competitively.

This thing is going to drop in value like a rock. Anyone who wants one will be able to get a barely used one cheap.

I guess you’re right. And I guess that shows of how much I don’t care about a ceramic case.

Make it all titanium, give it 2254-style markers and sword hands. Make sure the lug width is 22 like the steel version, don’t fuck it up with 21 or 23’s. Sell it for $6800 MSRP, steer price $5000 +/- and then I’ll buy one.

This one randomly caught my eye the other day. I have been looking at picking up a darth tuna and saw some guy on youtube compare this seamaster to the darth tuna because they are both titanium and ceramic.
Has anyone picked up one of these? what is the actual street price and what do you think of it in the flesh? I'd love to see some real life pictures if anyone has one to repost. I've always been tempted by the seamaster 300m in general but kind of put off by the shiny ceramic dials/bezels and blingy case/bracelet. lack of bracelet is a bummer on this one but I have been wearing more on rubber/straps lately anyway.

I just went and checked out some seamasters in the flesh today. They had the white, blue and the 43.5mm ceramic/titanium on display but they didn't have the regular black 300m.
I didn't get to actually try any of them on because I was in a bit of a hurry and the place was really busy so I stood staring at the omega case for about 10 mins without anyone helping me. So I just checked them out through the glass and left.
I went in thinking the white dial would be my favorite but I actually liked it way less in person. Something about the matte white dial and the shiny black ceramic bezel didn't do it for me. I liked the blue way more in person than I expected. But I think my favorite was the 43.5 ceramic/titanium. I loved the matte black dial and overall look, no date, etc ...kind of stinks it doesn't come on a bracelet though.
I also wandered over to the rolex side of the shop which was basically empty other than some exhibition models to try on. FYI, this was at the infamous and controversial Rolex AD, CD Peacock in Oak Brook, IL. Some dude bro tried on the SD43 while I was there and put his name on the "list"
