3 New Arrivals!

Post by dshap » Thu Sep 30, 2010 7:35 am

In my dreams :banplz:

I'm thinking about vintage Omegas, and I remembered that I have these cool wrist shots. When I was in Melbourne I happened upon a vintage watch shop, and they had some amazing Omegas. I tried on a PloProf, SM300 and Flightmaster, and the owner was nice enough to let me take pics.

I don't know if this is really true, but he told me that there are a lot of vintage PloProfs around Melbourne because they were used by divers there in the 70s. He also told me that the PloProf I tried on was actually found by a construction worker burried in mud, and it was fine except for the red button.

I remember loving the PloProf and SM300, but I didn't like the Flightmaster as much as I excepted I would.

If the Flightmaster initially intrigued you, but maybe it ended up being too busy or you just didn't want a pilot's piece, try this:

Omega Seamaster 120 "Big Blue" ( I lust for one of these babies)

I don't remember exactly, but the prices were no bargains. Probably wanted a little more than what it would cost you on the forums.

The 300 must be one of the best looking watches ever made,it must have been a stunner in it's day

Indeed. You can see a lot of its features, especially the lyre lug design, in the PO these days. It's still a stunner in its own right, though.
You give respect, you'll get respect - you just don't know your place.

I'd take any of those, though the SM300 really makes me soil myself. I've been to the Watchco website and figured out the US-Aus dollar conversion many times, thinking about one of their NOS models.

Absolutely, the PO is almost a visual clone of the 300, just the bezel and date are obvious. I never saw one back in the day sadly, but it's a bit of a grail now
