Speedy on Rallye Strap

Post by dshap » Mon May 02, 2011 7:29 pm

I was trying to figure out a good way to wear my Speedy in the summer when I didn't want it on the bracelet. NATOs work, but I don't always want to wear them. I already have the OEM rallye stap and deployant, but I don't want to ruin the strap by sweating all over it (partly b/c I'm a cheap bastard, partly becuase I worry about future availability).

I picked up this Di Modell Rallye strap to serve as a summer alternative to the OEM rallye. I got the idea for it when I saw Silje wearing it at the NC GTG, and of course it looked good on her  .

I think the OEM is nicer and of better quality, though not a big difference to be honest. The DM strap has a different look that I guess I would call "more vintagey", and of course it doesn't have fitted lugs. Since it's only $40, I don't mind sweating all over it, so the DM should see a good amount of use in the coming months.

Here's some old shot of the OEM rallye for comparison:

Looks great. I have a two piece canvas that works well in the summer heat but have always like the DM rallye - might actually get off my butt and finally get one after seeing yours.

I'd definitely tell you to go for it. I think it's the best looking non-OEM leather (not counting gators).

I have to admit, the DM looks better than the Omega strap

I like that choice. The speedy looks good on a Rallye strap.
