It is a little thick. I'd prefer for it to be a couple mm thinner. The dial and bezel are major upgrades on the 8500, but the bezel action still feels cheap compared to Rolex, Seiko GS diver, Tudor, etc divers.
Call me crazy, but I think the gold model is kind of cool. The orange is an abomination.

Agreed, the only update I could think of is a matte ceramic bezel for 2500D.
That sounds like the 2500 liquid metal LE. Super rare now, pretty sure Nick zidane has one.

Very nice, but sadly a "C" movement.

If they added the master co-axial motor to the 2500 it would be perfect. Drill the lugs and I'd melt.

Drilled lugs? The PO case is so nice I can't imagine wanting to put holes in it.

You wear nothing but a black or grey NATO, what do you need drilled lugs for

I've heard this before, I still like them.
I do agree; the PO case (all Omega cases?) are quite nice and holes might ruin them.

Apex of the PO was the Liquid Metal 2500 – just perfection. 39.5 with a Master CoAx is getting warm but doesn't change the hot mess that's the dial.

Now that the adjustable clasp works on the 2500, they're really hard to beat.

To me, it's all been downhill since they discontinued the 2254.50.

Technically, this should be a good alternative for those in the SD4000 market.

I had the 42mm 8500 and it was too think for me.
The 42mm 2500 was perfect
The 39.5 is 14.16mm tall according to the article.
Still tall for the diameter but I imagine wears much better.
Definitely going to have to try this on one.
Looking at the pictures, there is one disappointment. When they scaled the watch down, Omega didn't also scale down the He valve crown. I get that Omega won't get rid of it any time soon, but wish somebody had looked at it and shaved a couple mm off the valve crown. It looks too big for the case.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

I keep thinking I want a beater 2500 PO on rubber. Then I remember I told myself no new watches. (That was before I bought the SMP Bond)

This Omega with white dial is best of all I've seen imo.
