I wasn’t quite certain what Andrew was suggesting until you posted this photo of what “correct” looks like.

I still think the Sinn looks good, but damn it pales next to the Heuer.

I should have posted a photo to clarify. Thanks Art.

Of course the case, crown and pushers are different.

to offer a different point of view - Sinn went with a completely new reference for this one: 158 vs another variation of the 155 possibly to make it stand alone and independent of the 155 line

Whether they succeeded in that or only mudding the waters ala Panerai or not remains to be seen, however, Sinn may have just wanted to break away from the 155 line and produce something a little different.

You may be right Mike but, if that's what Sinn wanted, it didn't really come across that way in the Sinn/Watchbuys marketing materials or the early articles about the watch.

From Watchbuys:

=================
Vintage Inspired Limited Edition

The new Sinn 158 Bundeswehr limited edition is built on the bones of a legend. This watch will look very familiar to collectors and those who know their Sinn history.

The Bundeswehr and the Sinn 155 Bw

In the 1980's, Helmut Sinn introduced the legendary Sinn 155 Bw after restoring and reconditioning the phased out watch inventories of the Bundeswehr (German Federal Defenses).

During the two decades prior, the Bundeswehr were issuing a chronograph model from Heuer-Leonidas called the SA 1550 SG, also known as the Heuer 1550 SG.

The Heuer 1550 SG was a hand-wound chronograph with an acrylic crystal and a bidirectional bezel. The two most distinct features of the watch were its bicompax layout and its extra wide pilot's bezel.

After the Bundeswehr discontinued their use of that watch, the remaining stock was purchased by Helmut Sinn and the Sinn 155 Bw was born.

The Sinn 155 Bw was sold in extremely limited quantities during the 1980's and 1990's. It is now one of the most sought after Sinn watches for collectors and is featured in the Sinn museum.

=================

I may be reading too much into it, but this sounds like they are trying to draw a direct connection to the 155 line rather than attempting to break away from it.

From WatchesBySJX:

Sinn Introduces the 158 Chronograph “Bund Remake”
Heuer 1550 SG "Bund" reborn.

They seem to be under the impression that the 158 is intended as a remake of the 1550.

Anyway, I'm not trying to trash the 158. I think it's a cool looking watch that shares some important attributes with the 1550. Maybe my expectations were just set a little differently based on the marketing copy that accompanied the release.

I usually don't care much for blue dials but that 104 is very nice.

The 104 is very nice for sure. Not only the color but also the overall design. I always admired this model and yeah, a bracelet could be a nice addition.

Agree, that is extremely nice. Great subtle date window execution on this one.
