Return of the U2
Just about 4 months after being sent to Germany for warranty service, my U2 finally made its way back, today. Looks just like it did when it left (as far as condition of the case, crystal, etc.) and is running like a champ. While I don't like being without a watch I own for 4 months, the whole process really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Specifically, while shipping to Germany did instill me with some anxiety, FedEx did a good job, getting the watch to Germany in about 3 days, for about $50. Communication was sparse but prompt and to the point. They even returned the watch in a cool little Sinn carrying case.

Good to hear. Sinn is NEXT on my list.
When I sent the SMP to Omega the 2nd time they had it for 4 months as well... and it only went to NJ!

That is just unacceptable. I can see it coming. I'm going to be pretty upset the first time I finally get burned by one of these companies. Did this 4 months come out of your initial warranty period?

Let's see.
I sent my Omega to NJ...twice also!
However, I think it took only about two months...each time.
AND my Omega was returned in the red travel case, each time.
By the way, glad your Sinn is back safe and sound.

I hadn't thought about this. I've still got 1 year, 4 months left on the warranty, so not a real big issue for me. However, if this had occurred during the "end" of the warranty period, I wonder if Sinn would have "extended" warranty coverage.vbuskirk wrote:Did this 4 months come out of your initial warranty period?

In my case, I wore my SMP every day for almost 10 years, with the exception of its trips to Omega. It went back the first time for losing time at 1 year under warranty and was gone for about 4 months.
It went back 3x more over the 10 years and I paid the tab twice ($250 each trip). The typical wait was between 3-5 months.

I think it depends what needs to be done to the watch. I had my U1 for warranty repair at Sinn's factory and if I remember right it was gone for less than a month from the time it left my door till the time I got it back. Now, U1 is much less complicated than U2 but still fairly satisfactory taking for consideration it went overseas.
There are only two kinds of people in the world, the ones that own Sinn U1, U1W, U2, UX, U212 and U-Unlimited, and ones that don’t.

New Jersey is known for being slow and just a lousy center. Even though I am in Boston, My PO went west to LA via the AD (AD paid the freight
