My mom and dad’s Datejusts…
Any of our Rolex aficionados know what these are worth? I believe they were purchased back in 2001 at Bucherer in Zermatt.

No price input, but that’s a sweet set.

Dad's looks to be a 116233 and with that dial range from 5 to 6 on 'Recon depending on condition, extras, service history, etc
Don't know about mom's - maybe someone that knows more will pop in
*EDIT* 16233

Dad’s looks mint, still has the green sticker on the back. Mom’s has a mother of pearl dial. I think they had them both serviced within the last few years.

I think that’s the previous model reference 16233. The 116233 were around 2005-2006 if memory serves? Also 116233 have polished lugs.

Not much resale strength in women’s Rolex watches, from what I’ve seen.

Spot on and good catch - thanks for the correction

Sadly, maybe 3k and 2k respectively. Despite an article I read yesterday, older DJ’s don’t have the value folks think they should have.

Oh, no worries, they’re not looking to sell them, just curious what they might be worth. Buying insurance for my collection recently got me thinking about theirs. I’ll have to ask them what they’re paying to cover these, might be that they are overspending.

Replacement cost is what I’d be concerned about when reviewing insurance coverage.

How does that work exactly when replacing models that are no longer in production? I assume you’d be looking at something from the secondary market? I wouldn’t think most insurance companies would be too keen on the idea of replacing old watches like these two with the comparable current models from Rolex. Or is it that you’re covered for the original purchase price, assuming you can provide some sort of bill of sale?
