Many, here and elsewhere, have remarked about 16600’s wearing tall and floppy on the wrist. I’m sure they work for some folks, or they just live with it for the sake of having a Sea-Dweller. In my experience, 16610’s and 14060’s offer a better wearing experience. Also, I was shocked how light my Explorer wore when I first got it. Now it’s one of my most worn.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 8:56 amThe only downside of a 16600 IMO is that it wears tall and somewhat floppy on a (well, mine at least) small thin wrist. If you're a fat guy, the caseback will sink in and wear very comfortably. If your wrist is flat, I'm sure it's probably ok as well. But small and boney? Probably try before you buy.dukerules wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 8:48 amI’ll say it again—16600 is my favorite watch of all time. I love 14060s, but as Jacob said they feel pretty light and a little unsubstantial on the wrist (I won’t say cheap feeling, but some might). Some may prefer that, but for me the 16600 offers a more appealing feel especially with the SELs. And they’re not much more than 14060s and 16610s are. Obviously though, get what appeals most to you. I’ll never turn down giving a 16600 pitch to someone who’s in the market for a 5-digit Rolex diver.
I agree with your assessment of the 14060M. It's not cheap feeling but when I first took mine out of the box I was surprised at the lightness, and that's after owning a bunch of 5 digits. I'm sure it would be shocking if you're used to modern Omega and Rolex.

I have a flat and small wrist at 6.75”. I’ve tried an SD and it works for me. Then again I have no problems with my BB Pro.

Re: First Sub for me…
I would also like the bracelet of the 14060M to be more substantial, but:
1/ it’s super comfortable
2/ it’s indestructible
3/ it’s super easy to take off and put back (fuck me I had to bring my 16570 to rolex to put it back on when I took it off)
If the above is the price to pay VS the SD to have a MUCH thinner and more comfortable watch, I’m laying this every day and twice on Sunday.
I owned both, I also have a skinny (6.75) and bong wrist. The SD was a nightmare, the 14060M is awesome.
Thinness is one of the most underrated qualities in a watch IMO
Of course to each his own.

I CAN’T WAIT to be providing my own real review - of a 14060 or 14060m as I think that case size is gonna fit me better than a SD. I sold a 2599.8 Seamaster Chrono because it was too thick. Same for my U1. I don’t like thick watches and have a low fat 7 1/2” wrist with a bow - so fat watches stick up like pollywogs on my wrist. I already miss my 2254.5 because it was so svelte and am hoping that my new two liner is gonna fit my bill. I’ve got a solid lead on a VERY SWEET 2006 14060 non “m” with good credentials and a recent service. I hope it passes the inspection with flying colors. If not, I’ll chase a similar one or a M that has two line face. The simple face is one of the aesthetics that I’m looking forward to.

I sold my 16600 for multiple reasons, which included the thickness and it flopping around on my wrist. If the bracelet on the 14060 doesn’t work for you, you can trade up to a 6-digit sun later.Wario406 wrote:I CAN’T WAIT to be providing my own real review - of a 14060 or 14060m as I think that case size is gonna fit me better than a SD. Thanks Rog - I have my Monta Nobel and I think/hope the bracelet (with micro adjust) and straps from that (one leather, one rubber) will also fit the 14060.BacoNoir wrote:I sold my 16600 for multiple reasons, which included the thickness and it flopping around on my wrist. As a crazy sub guy, I'm super excited for you!!!
Even if that means that's one less sub I can get.
If you want fairly modern and can't do the maxi cases then the 14060 is for you.
Some people prefer the modified movement, but as my watchmaker says, "its a 50 year everyday life expectancy." I think there are 14060m with or without the certified chronometer language.
I had a 14060 "SWISS" only and regrettably traded it off.
16610 is another great choice, but the dial is busy and there is the date.

It's modern (124060) vs Neo-vintage (114060, 14060M) vs vintage subs (14060, 5513). I think that is a way to define it.
I guess the answer is one of each.
There is a world of difference 5 digit to 6 digit.
At least you have it down to no-date. I have to admit, I am partial to the date versions.
The 124060 is bracelet (adjustable), bezel and bigger case. The 14060 is about size, aluminum bezel and lighter bracelet.
For a "weak" comparison, the Monta OK is more of the 124060 or 114060 in feel.

Well, I’d NEVER would have guessed that I’d get a modern Sub, but thankfully () Brice came up with a great deal on an awesome watch.tmw wrote:It's modern (124060) vs Neo-vintage (114060, 14060M) vs vintage subs (14060, 5513). I think that is a way to define it.
