5513 PCG Gilt Underline . . .full, full set. 1965
As you all drool over Rolex's new releases, I've gone old school... again.
Just in and I'm over the moon. I have other gilt no crown guard subs, but this one is amazing. Picked it up today.
Gilt, underline dial. Not a crack or craze. Acrylic crystal has some deep scratches, but most buffed out. Actually thought the dial was going to be all cracked when I first saw the watch.
Pointed crown guard with original crown:
Box and papers? How about everything including the original sales receipt:
Serviced? Yes, once by Rolex in 1975 for $47 plus $2 shipping.
As reflected in the IIII 63 case back
Bracelet date coded to 4/64. . .

I bought a cheap watch from a crazy man
Floating down canal
It doesn't use numbers or moving hands
It always just says now

Just spectacular!

Thanks all. No big story. First, I really thought these had all been bought up. . . .but as I just discovered they still surface. Anyone looking should have a relationship with local jewelers. This is where items like this show up, especially with older folks who don't use the interwebs (like us).
I'm grateful my jeweler let me make an offer before he wholesaled it and it would eventually surface with one of the online dealers.
Anyhow, I'll keep those cards close, but I'm over the moon!

That's a good price for an overhaul even considering that minimum wage was $2.10 in 1975. That watch cost about $440 in 1972 when I checked them out, IIRC.

“Use box for cigarettes after removing this card and watch support.” Ya gotta love that
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.
