Some updates for my wife's Tesla

Post by Torrid » Thu Dec 01, 2022 1:55 pm

I had to help her personalize it. She loves the purple door handles.

Changes. Wrapped the handles purple and removed the wheel covers and installed new center caps and lug nut caps. I really didn't expect the wheels to make such a difference in how the car looks.

I'm sure we'll make more changes when my wallet recovers a bit more from the purchase.

Those are just wheel covers? Is that the standard wheel that’s under there? Those look great.

Yep, they say it's for efficiency, but I love double 5 spoke wheels. It was a no brainer to remove the covers and install the caps and lug covers.

I'm amazed anyone thinks this garage is clean. I should take some detail shots. 😂

Was really surprised to see those awesome wheels under cheapo looking covers.

I second this and should get some for Mrs. P

I'm guessing they put the covers on so it did better in the EPA tests and official range projections, but knew full well people would want to take them off.

Wow - I had almost the same garage up to last weekend. 2022 Tesla Model 3 LR and a 2021 GTI-S. That’s a nice fun combination!

Btw- the wrapped handles are cool!

The covers add ~3.5% efficiency on the highway. That’s quite a bit actually. It’s a similar gain to switching to a CVT on a ICE engine car or low resistance tires. More gain than having a PIA “stop/start” engine too. I like the looks on mine and save time cleaning the rim and spokes too. I also prefer the look on darker colored Tesla’s.

They are definitely functional. I just can’t stand the look of them though and the car spends very little time on the highway.

Excellent taste. I really fully believe these are the two best enthusiast choices for efficiency for the cost. I'm really amazed by how heavy the Model 3 is though. I drive the GTI so much more aggressively after being in the Model 3 because it's so go cart like in comparison. The GTI is my favorite car I've owned, but I am seriously considering replacing it with a Tesla as well. Not 100% on that just yet as I love the driving experience of the GTI, but every time I drive the Model 3 I'm impressed with its refinement.
