That looks in much better shape than the Scout our family had in high school.

Re: Car Spotting
There was a guy in my home town who owned two when I was growing up. They were in good shape, considering the amount of salt used on the roads there. I'm sure they're long gone by now.
Re: Car Spotting
It looked clean inside and out, I stopped and chatted with them for a bit. It is inspiring me to get the motor back in my Alfa spider. Fall in Colorado is such an awesome time for top down driving

About to pull the trigger on an M2 Comp with MT. But I’m seriously tempted by the Mk8 Golf R which should be available soon.

Buy a Porsche. BMW has lost its way.
Re: Car Spotting
I have a 911. Warranty is about to expire, I’m not enthused about owning one out of warranty after I just went through a PDK replacement that would’ve cost me $25K out of pocket, and I think I want a MT for what will possibly be the last ICE vehicle I ever buy.

Re: Car Spotting
I can only tell you that week after week I watch guys in new BMWs roll into VIR and then leave on a rollback with blown engines, transmissions and overheated brakes. Their reliability has been in the toilet for the last 15 years.
Porsche has made their share of mistake….coolant pipes and ims bearings alone will break your heart, but the cars are more predictable. I understand the desire for the manual and honestly my list would be cayman gt4 (far better car than the 911, even if Porsche won’t ever give it the horsepower it needs) or mustang Mach 1.

Re: Car Spotting
GT4 is incredible, but it’s also more than I can spend. And I’m just not digging the 4 cylinder in the 718 Cayman, even though everyone has great 4 cylinder engines now. Part of it is going from a great NA flat 6 in my 911.
BMW reliability isn’t great, but this would be a car I would own under warranty. But this may be all moot anyway because even though the next Gen M2 probably won’t come out until 2023, apparently they are wrapping up 2021 M2 allocations now.

The 6 cylinder GTS 4.0 Cayman is a blast. Getting a new one anytime soon however…dukerules wrote:GT4 is incredible, but it’s also more than I can spend. Yeah none of the Caymans I want match my budget.goaliechris wrote:The 6 cylinder GTS 4.0 Cayman is a blast. If you want something a little more aggressive, I know where there’s an single season Audi GT4 for sale. It’s a little light on the creature comforts, but who gives a shit?

Re: Car Spotting
You missed a zero.
Re: Car Spotting
I’ll throw this out there. How much do you guys hate the new Supra? As wrong as it is in so many ways, I think it’s an incredible looking car in person and very fun to drive. And thoughts on the new Nissan Z? If the timing was a bit different I would definitely consider it.
Re: Car Spotting
I’d rather have a newer GT-R than a Supra, but that’s just me.
Re: Car Spotting
Well yeah but it’s more than twice as much. And for the money, I can think of a lot of things I’d rather buy than an R35 GTR.SoCal C4S wrote:I’d rather have a newer GT-R than a Supra, but that’s just me.
Re: Car Spotting
I meant that I would take a used GT-R over a new Supra.
Re: Car Spotting
I love the new Supra, but it isn't a Toyota, so don't expect Toyota reliability (although I'd be happy to be proven wrong).dukerules wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 8:44 amI’ll throw this out there. The new Z is cool except for the front end. I wish it had a NA engine, but it can be had with a manual! I'm more of a sport sedan guy, so the Infiniti Q50 RS400 is more my style (same engine as the new Z). Unfortunately, you can't get the Infiniti with a stick.

Re: Car Spotting
Bmw and Nissan both have cost me thousands in repairs and poor product quality. The fact that they still endeavor to make enthusiast cars only makes it worse, as I want to love them, but recognize that both are like hookers. Love them all you want… they’re gonna give you crotch rot.
Buying a modern, manual GT is tough. The camaro is dead. The mustang is dying. Chrysler’s don’t handle. Nissan tries but can’t compete on a global scale. Corvette is amazing, but auto
Only. Mercedes gt cars are brilliant, but auto only. Aston still makes a manual but it’s expensive.
Porsche is kind of the last island. The world is changing.

Re: Car Spotting
If I were buying any car right now, it would likely be a 997 C4S or the E92M3 sedan, both with the manual. Nothing new blows my hair back, and while I’m bored with cars in general, I’m not really looking to replace anything. Well, the LC is sure to go sooner than later; not driving it at all.
Re: Car Spotting
I think the new Z looks way better than the Supra, and the new Z does a better job of adding some of the retro Z looks in the body.dukerules wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 8:44 amI’ll throw this out there. I’ve never seen one of these electric trucks before and saw two within a few minutes today. They look kind of cool but out of my price range.
Re: Car Spotting
Yeah they’re very cool. We have the suv on order and should take delivery sometime in 2022. Really looking forward to it !BacoNoir wrote:I’ve never seen one of these electric trucks before and saw two within a few minutes today. They look kind of cool but out of my price range.
