Awesome!!
Re: Car Spotting
That’s so cool that they are actually off road capable! Makes sense based on the starting prices.

Those are the trucks they built as a prototype for Ewan McGreggor’s long way up. They did an all electric trip on motorcycles from southern tip South America to California. Their support team drove the Rivians.
Re: Car Spotting
Supposedly with electric torque and air suspension they are extremely capable. Rivian is also planning to put a supercharger network along popular off road routes.

Re: Car Spotting
Extremely capable is an overstatement. Off road vehicles are generally limited by tires and clearance. While electric vehicles can have nice clearance and a great COG, they’re not special. The physics of traction and power never alter.
The arguments about defender/ bronco/ wrangler are absurd for the same reason. They’re still applying power to traction.

I'd love a 4x4 EV but I don't see how you get over the range issue. My Isuzu has a range of 700 miles and even with that I have to carry extra fuel at times. I can't ever see these being in any way functional for remote touring.Seth wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 3:37 pmExtremely capable is an overstatement. Re: Car Spotting
It all depends on your frame of reference... I simply meant for a stock production pickup/SUV, the articles that I have read about them are that they do very well off road.

Some cool stuff...but if I could "check out", I'd do this. Seen at a local fair here.

With a mild lift and a little bigger tires, my trooper was lucky to get 250-275 on a 20 gallon tank

Re: Car Spotting
Was wondering that myself. 38 gallon tank, or do you have a bed-mounted fuel cell tapped into your tank?DoctorC wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 3:08 pmWhat Isuzu do you have?bedlam wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 9:34 pmI'd love a 4x4 EV but I don't see how you get over the range issue. Re: Car Spotting
A 2018 MUX. I had the stock tank upgraded to 37 gallons. It has a lift, 32in tyres, 4 cylinder 3L turbo diesel. Gets 20 mpg when off-road touring,DoctorC wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 3:08 pmWhat Isuzu do you have?bedlam wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 9:34 pmI'd love a 4x4 EV but I don't see how you get over the range issue. I smile at the guys running 35in+ muddies and tuned V8's cos I know the hit they take on fuel consumption and range.
