The Great Canadian VW Show - Pics

Post by JDC222 » Mon Aug 15, 2022 5:31 am

I spent the day at the VW Show on Sunday, over 500 VW’s, Porsches, a few Audis…great turn out! There were so many cool cars and busses, I should have taken more pics.

My ‘60 (second pic) sat beside a barn from 1974-2004, in a dry climate. No rust, just sunburned paint, with a satin clearcoat…real deal!

Looking good Dave! Are they using those relays for the seat heaters? I am also installing some in my ride soon once I finally get all the welding done.

The suspension is slammed, including 4” narrowed adjustable Airkewld Ultimate beam and Limebug adjustable 2” drop spring plates. New Rancho transaxle. Replica SA sprint star wheels. Front disks with dropped spindles. The interior is new, with sound deadening and insulation. Heated seats. LED headlights and tail lights. 1600 dp. Petronix distributor. New Bosch alternator and coil. It drives really nice actually, stiff and corners well. It cruises at 70mph no probs…

Thanks for the photos, T. Love those vintage rusty Beetles. It has a character like a pair of old Levi's 501 jeans.

Did you see any Subaru-swapped VWs? I bet they scream. Light weight, and way more power than stock.

I have seen them, pretty crazy. It's primarily done in busses but I have also seen a WRX swap done to a Beetle! Not my thing, but pretty cool!

they require a ton of work to get them to work. then subaru loves eating headgaskets. you can building a good running vw motor pushing 100hp and be reliable.

It was a custom “buggy”, built on a Thing 181 chassis. There was a story board on the car, with a funny history but I can’t remember the details. It would be a fun vehicle to have in the woods.
