Wind-Up Watch Fair NYC 10/18 - 10/20

Post by watchingyou » Thu Oct 17, 2024 6:25 am

Just was wondering if anyone here is planning on attending the watch fair this weekend?
I'll probably stop by Saturday. Seems like mostly microbrands, but there are several large brands like Oris, Zodiac, Citizen etc

I will be at an event at Analog Shift tonight and at the show tomorrow. The show has grown exponentially since the early days downtown. There will be about 140 brands including EDC and a few other hobby adjacent brands. The amount of overseas brands has grown as well. I am looking forward to seeing a number of the staple brands (and the many friends I have made) and some of the new ones. There will be a bar sponsored by Bruichladdich Whisky and Brew watches is sponsoring a coffee bar. I look forward to this every year.
Regards
Barry

I usually go every year, and I would have skipped it, but there are many brands that will be there for the first time, like Damasko and Resco. If there are good deals I’ll leave with something.

I had been looking forward to this for many months.

Unfortunately, plans have a way of changing.

This Monday, I am having carpal tunnel release surgery on my left hand with the right to follow as soon as possible.

I have not worn a watch since early September due to comfort issues and am just not up for attending.

Oh, well.

I've always loved that shape, but thought they used to be super big. 40 x 43 sounds dynamite.

I had one of the older ones. 44mm x 49mm and 16mm thick. It was chunky. This new case wears very well. I’m sure they’re going to use it for standard editions.

Left hand surgery today; all went well.

Best part - the doctor said I can call his office to schedule surgery for the right hand; I was worried I'd have to wait longer.

All things considered, it's been an interesting year.

Thanks, Steve.

It's going to be a while, with one more surgery, but I can't wait to get strength back in my hands.

Glad you're on the mend, Matt!

My uncle had that done to both hands. He's a professional organist, so there was a lot at state. It worked out perfectly for him.

Surgery on right hand scheduled for November 18th; actually earlier than I expected.

Hope this does it for the year.

Thanks again for all the positive thoughts.
