New Benrus Ulra-Deep

Post by AtomicTom » Mon Oct 16, 2023 2:08 pm

Have all of you guys had a look at the new Benrus Ultra-Deep?

The watches will have 36.5mm stainless steel cases, double domed
acrylic crystals, nice classic looking black dials, stainless steel bracelet,
NATO strap, along with the Soprod P024, and much more.

I like the looks, but think that 36.5 would be a touch small for my taste.

I'm guessing 36.5mm with negligible bezel would wear fine on most wrists, especially with the large dual crowns and prominent lugs. I really like the dial design.

When I first saw this I thought it would be too small. But, on reflection for a historically accurate release from the brand that made the original I have come to like it. It probably does wear a bit larger than the dimensions suggest.

The crowns look gigantic on the small case, but I like it.

I wish I didn’t see this.
I love the ultra deep. It’s a special watch and the parts are hard to find- even harder that most vintage. I spent a lot of time on eBay looking for crystals… super compressor crystals are nearly impossible to come by.

I think this looks great and seems to be a great interpretation of the original.

39.5, maybe 38.5 in this design, and it could work. I can’t do 36.5

It doesn't look bad on this guy, but I have no idea what size wrist he has.

38.5 with 20mm lugs would have worked (and likely made this my first compressor style watch), but I agree 36.5 with 18mm lugs is pushing the "smaller is better" trend a bit too far.

That looks great^

I’m not sure if they are part of a small watch trend- I think this is the same size as the original.

I say this on any watch that has one - Soprod is a non starter for me. Otherwise I would have taken a much closer look at the Type II reissue.

I am also thinking those cool crowns, as well as lugs make this
one feel and look great on the wrist.  And it had to be a
real conundrum on whether to make the case size bigger I bet.
But it seems like the new Benrus wanted to stay true to the old
Benrus. ..Honestly, I was just happy to see that they were doing
this. Because the vintage one has always seemed amazing to me.
And this new version looks like a really cool sequel. :)

The best thing about all these watches all the time though, is
hearing what you guys think. ;) Thanks so very very much !!!
