Nivada Grenchen’s new Antarctic Diver
Nivada Grenchen’s new Antarctic Diver
Guys, have you seen Nivada Grenchen’s new Antarctic Diver?
This watch is reinterpretation of the brand’s first diver from
the 1950’s. Having details like a 38mm case, unidirectional
rotating bezel with ceramic insert, nice black dial with neat
markings, hands, and cross hairs at the center, the Soprod
P024, cool straps, as well as BOR bracelet option and more.

I love the look of it, but it’s Hodinkee sized.

Re: Nevada Grenchen’s new Antarctic Diver
watches have come back to "average wrist sizes" in the past 6-7 years, 39-42mm. 44+ is no longer the norm for divers. good for us 7"ish wristers, not as good for the big guys.
so, who the eff greenlighted this photo? only a complete idiot wears a diver on a leather strap over a wetsuit.

I dig this more than the new aquastar fwiw
Re: Nevada Grenchen’s new Antarctic Diver
Looks good except BOR’s with “male” end links look weird.

This looks so good like the recent Vulcain but do wish it was 40-41. So want one.

They are hell bent on only producing the original vintage sizes. They seem to be doing well and there is a market for it, but I think if they made more 41-42mm pieces they could sell even more.Jeep99dad wrote:This looks so good like the recent Vulcain but do wish it was 40-41. So want one.

Right. Just offer both sizes. There is a market for both.tattoo chef wrote:They are hell bent on only producing the original vintage sizes. fair
Re: Nevada Grenchen’s new Antarctic Diver
I think I read that the original was 36mm. 41mm would have been a home run.tattoo chef wrote:They are hell bent on only producing the original vintage sizes. I really like this.
Is it sold out, or not yet released?
https://nivadagrenchenofficial.com/prod ... ctic-diver
Edit: read the dinky article and it said:
“the first batch of the new Antarctic-Diver is already sold out but will be restocked on June 12 at the Nivada Grenchen website.”

So annoying, hype a watch that's unavailable.
Re: Nevada Grenchen’s new Antarctic Diver
Checking out the website, 2 thought jumped into my head:
1) Every bracelet option looks weird. The BOR (as I mentioned above) looks odd with the "male" end link extra-long beads, but the oyster looks odd with the 20mm end link jumping down to (what looks like) 16mm at the first link. I know Forstner was a "look" from the '70's, but I'm not that committed to nostalgia. I like fitted end links.
2) This would be a pretty good competitor to the Doxa Sub 200.

A good looking watch for the small wristed guys.

I totally understand guys, I ‘think’ it’s that the watch isn’t finished
yet, so I am thinking it just might not be in stock yet.
And I am with everyone with the size. I love these vintage sizes,
but it would be terrific if they added at least one more modern size
for those to enjoy also. Heck, even two more sizes right?!
In any case, it’s great hearing what everyone had to say. So thanks
so very very much for chiming in !!!

I like everything about it except the short hour hand…

Re: Nivada Grenchen’s new Antarctic Diver
I love absolutely EVERYTHING about this... except the 38mm.
I am not even obsessed by watch size.. though I am a big lad and not a twiggy build either.
I just KNOW that this wouldn't sit well with me. And with the price.. I would definitely consider one of these.
I especially like the red cross hairs and the faux aged lume.
A great looking piece.. but I would have to try one on.
Thanks for the share... I really would look at this on a 40mm.

I have downsized considerably since my younger days but even their 39mm looked really tiny on me.BramleyGreg wrote:I love absolutely EVERYTHING about this... except the 38mm.
