Happy Birthday! That's a great-looking piece, better yet when you outfit it and stock it up. Cool.

thanks all. pretty stoked. my current watch box is nice, but it's just watches on pillows. this will give me storage for tools, straps, etc, too. and will hold more watches (meaning i can get some out of the watch roll).

Holy cow, well then Happy Birthday to you Greg !!! :bday: :bdaybanner:

Yes, this is such a wonderful gift it’s amazing, and takes watch
boxes to a whole other level actually. Because first of all it comes
from your. wife, so right there it is priceless. And an instant treasure ! :) :salute:
Then you have the whole vintage element, along with wonderful
style, and design. :o I mean the watch box alone is a piece of
art right?! It’s actually breathtaking ! ..And that’s before any
watch even sits inside.

Boy oh boy, talk about a thoughtful gift, as well as Happy Birthday
here Greg. :cake: :) A GIANT congrats ahead of time there !!!

It’s on the larger side for a machinist chest, especially the height. They normally are 12-14” tall.

20” wide
9-1/4” deep
18-1/4” tall

so, some very quick and dirty photos. it just arrived today. i could easily fit 20-24 watches on pillows in the top, and probably another 15 on pillows in the bottom drawer. i don't have 35-40 watches, so i won't have to worry about that. and plenty of drawers for straps, bracelets, tools, etc.

That's outstanding, cool drawer space and room up top for piece, if you don't seat a couple dozen watches. That's a great gift, and Happy birthday!

Here’s my Grandpa’s from 1918

He was a machinist for Packard in Detroit.

It houses heirlooms now.

Just curious, how do you clean any oils that may on the cloth lining of the drawers?

by pulling out the felt and replacing it. ;)

you can actually buy heavy duty replacement felt from Gerstner, which I may do. but probably not right away. the felt on mine is worn, but not horrible. maybe a little heavier on the drop down front piece.

so, haven't bought replacement felt, altho i have that, the animal hide glue, and gerstner's restorer and preserver in my cart at the gerstner site. just need to find my gift certificate for gerstner's so i can hit buy. but for now, it's finally in its home and filled with watches, tools, and straps. still need to make my "inserts" to hold the watch pillows in their places.
