That TT model is gorgeous. Do it.
Same. A true OG diver pedigree versus a very nice open six diver with a pronounced date wheel. I hate to be the diminishing returns guy on this thread, but give the SPB143 a try (seriously, it's quite nice and i've been here long enough you know what've owned), shake it out of your system, keep or sell, and buy something else for double knowing what you saved.
Seriously….

I feel I should just mail Brice my SPB297J1 and let him run it for a couple weeks so he can scratch the itch and just go buy the Blancpain.

IMO, the SPB297 with the swapped in MM300 expanding clasp is the best sub $1K dive watch on the market today.

While being an admitted Seiko fan with whatever prejudices that includes, this model offers DiaShield case hardening, a domed sapphire crystal, a 70hr power reserve movement, applied indices on an engraved / decorated dial, and decent lume. My example is even reasonably accurate at about +5 - +7 seconds per day.

I’m honestly not certain what I could compare it to with a similar feature set.

I actually owned the 143, sold it just months back. It’s nice for $700 and all but those mvt are erratic and overall finish is average. I do like the the case design a lot.

The dial is supposed to evoke the idea of a glacier. I just like the blue. :gayumbrella:

It isn’t anywhere in the same league as the SeaQ. Just a similar case size (40mm) and shape.

It’s a few mm smaller in diameter than the Pano (and obviously a much more basic movement).

Seiko movements can be hit or miss (which is to be expected given their rather large window of factory acceptable accuracy). My example just happens to run fairly well.

Love the SeaQ - keep forgetting about that one. I have been tempted by the TT Sub for a while and this is a similar watch but the movement and finishing is apparently better on the GO.

I love BP watches, having had 2, but for me I think the GO is just a bit more special. Good luck!

I just saw the chronograph, and for my taste, that's the clear winner in the lineup.

Image
I like it, but too far removed from the original for my taste.

It is nice to see GO with their own in-house integrated chronograph movement, however. Their previous modular movement was a bit of a bummer at the price point.

Since the comparison in this thread is with a Blancpain, for a little more than the SeaQ Chronograph, I'd probably go for the Bathyscaphe Ceramic Chrono. Date a 4:30 be damned...

^^^^This

The pros are numerous, but they each may have a con.

You flipped a 62MAS LE because the face was too small and the bezel was too wide, (unlike the SLA017, 025, or 033). For one the MAS didn't satisfy your eye proportionately. The domed, or cathedral bezel on the FFB may be similarly offputting, it is to me. A raised chamfered bezel in sapphire or ceramic would've been better, and favored the original FFAL. Or, the bulbous bezel style may be what you love about the watch.
Have you handled a FFB?

The GO is something, all around too, except for that minute's hand, for me.

Well looks like I can get my hands on this Carrera LE so it throws a wrench in the plan as I love it. Gonna try it on tomorrow and decide based on it wears on my wrist

I love the GO and have had one. But unless it’s a keeper resale is awful, you’ll take a beating.

Wait-wait, that wasn't in the running. That'll be a blast to use, I hope it suits you as thick as it is to be so small. You can't go wrong though, you get to try it on...it's going to be a great day! Enjoy!!

I’ll tell you tomorrow.
It was not in the running because the three ADs I work with didn’t have one. They had sold their allocation but one for another one unexpectedly

Went to try the Carrera LE 60th. The dial and dome are well done, looks very cool. But it just wore small and didn’t feel like a 7-8k watch as good as it looks on pics. For me I’d want a 41mm case and 6k price point.
So I passed.

The Apollo 8 Roger's sporting is something I'd check out if I had that bank. It's 44mm but that case design pulls it off smaller. Their Sedna Black is something too, its flavor and price are in keeping with the GO.

I could see that. I prefer Roger's Ap8. I prefer HIS pics too, these stock photos are lifeless and make the dial look cheap. I've yet to handle one. I looked at the first Dark Moon Speedy and it was cold...lifeless in person. The Apollo's a different beast though, I'll go out of my way to see it, soon I hope.

Here's an alternative for you - the just-announced VC Overseas Chronograph panda dial, 42.5mm. Slightly pricier at $32,400, unfortunately :(

Love it. Just wish they’d kept the date at 12. I like mine a lot but wish it had the contrasting dials.

That previous gen was very cool with the large date at '12'.

Why in the world did they move that date? Was perfect previously.

I do really love this watch and with the manual wind movement it thinner than the other DSOTM variations. Brethren the laser ablated plates with the moon surface and the floating subdials/chapter ring, it has a cool 3D effect.
