How sunburst-y was the dial in real life?
So tough to tell in jewelry store lights, but I thought it was fine. Bezel does remind me of the Seiko SPB143 which I have always loved. Dial sunburst was super subtle.

You can see in that photo that my Speedy also looks way blingier under those lights than here at my desk. The Speedy dial is black, and it looks lighter than the Tudor in that photo.

I’d like to know the weight. I keep forgetting about Ti, I’m a sucker for Ti.
The BB58 is somewhere between 130 and 140 grams depending on bracelet links. Reportedly the Pelagos 39 is somewhere between 100 and 110 grams.

This guy has some nice shots: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3C4Z_QIMLI
The case will likely be about 65g.
Rest depends on bracelet or strap on it. With canvas maybe add 13-15g

I passed on it, it really isn't for me. even my AD said it's not for someone who has the SubC already.
By the way it's somehow even more shinier than SubC with all he sunrays shooting from everywhere on the dial and bezel (naked - not in plastic wrap FYI)

My AD just called and they have one to show only. Not expecting any time soon for purchase, though you can place an order.

That was how my AD was also. The one I tried on arrived Tuesday and was for display only. Put me on the list and assumed they would start arriving soon but they weren't allowed to tell me where I was on the list.

Here’s one more up close in decent lighting in Rolex showroom with better than regular jewelry store lights.
It’s very shiny Ben. It’s the opposite of Pelagos, Benrus, U1 Pro, JLC NSA, etc type of a diver.

From my perspective, Tudor deleted the features of the Pelagos that made it special (HEV, cool / over engineered clasp, beyond the norm depth rating) but shaved only $300 off the price tag.

So, it seems, this watch is targeted at the market who want a "tool" style dive watch and are unwilling to wear a watch above 40mm. I've got to think that is a fairly narrow market, but what do I know?
It is not a narrow market. They came out with a 39mm because they did their research. 39mm is a very popular size these days, I see it all over social media, comments on my reviews etc. There is a decent sector of the watch community that want smaller watches. I personally prefer 41-42mm, but I know 39mm is now a sweet spot for many. I see these selling really well.

Like I said, what do I know.

I'm just saying I would've paid the extra $300 if they could've included the features they took off the full size Pelagos and still kept it 39mm.

The removal of these features makes the watch a bit more "fashion" and a bit less "function", but that is probably the market direction as well.

From a business perspective, I'll bet there is more profit in this new model as well as the removal of the full-size Pelagos features requires less case machining, less complicated clasp parts, and less involved Q.C. testing (200m versus 500m water resistance testing).
The OG clasp is BIG. While I don’t doubt it was downgraded, I see the logic in fitting a more compact clasp on a watch that’s clearly meant for people with small wrists.
The smaller clasp and narrower bracelet are probably the primary reasons I’d swap my 2-liner for this new one.

And FWIW, though it seems to be an oddly polarizing issue for some, I’m a fan of the sunburst finish. Looks great.

I also have no problem with matte on matte, as I obviously changed my Sea-Dweller in this direction, but I also don’t think that all watches need to be exactly that…
The bezel insert looks like a very specific kind of vintage patina. I’m not sure how you’d describe it, but some small number of old inserts look streaky in a radial direction. This looks a lot like that. I like it.

I’m glad I grabbed my 2 liner when I did. I had wanted it since I first saw it. Looking at this new model… other than titanium and the handset, it has nothing that first led me to the Pelagos.

Just tried it on and so wanted to love it. Image I passed. Because I’d only get it to flip it.

It felt so low quality, almost too light and so not Pelagos like. The bezel cheapens it to me. It felt like micro on my hand. I prefer my titanium Scurfa Image

Reminds me of the first time I held an EZM1… I was like wth is this kids toy… then I ended up loving it.
But it also has the tall hamburger case.

The Tudor weighs just a little more than a G-Shock so I can see how it would feel cheap to some.

I’m a fan. I’m out of funds for new watches so I’d have to flip something for it - maybe my Bronze BB Blue Bucherer edition since I don’t really need two snowflake hand watches.
