Tudor FXD & straps
Tudor FXD & straps
Hey guys,
I was fortunate enough to [pay a premium and] snag the Pelagos FXD, which arrived yesterday. Initial impressions: it’s what I expected, but I’d be ok if it were a bit smaller in diameter and lug-to-lug length. I’d also prefer a 22mm strap with. None of that will make me sell her, but I’d make those changes if I had been the creator.
The matte blue is fantastic, and a very close shade of blue to the BB58 blue color. Because the dial sits high, it works with the flat sapphire to give a look very similar to a Sinn UX when viewed at extreme angles. Legibility is outstanding and the bi-directional bezel is crisp.
Straps:
I love how Brice’s FXD looks on Art’s one piece canvas, so I may need to hit up Art, but it’s no secret I do like nylon straps. I wanted to wear a one piece Zulu or military style strap, but there isn’t much available unless you are ok with brushed or bead blasted hardware. PVD black hardware is also an option, but I really wanted it to match the watch. Well…. CountyComm has a limited run of their 3-ring Zulu with Grade-2 titanium hardware and it’s a perfect match with the FXD case. It’s available in: olive/OD green, gray, black, and orange. The olive is a nice subdued shade that works very well. If you have one of these or any titanium piece, consider grabbing these straps while they are here.
Let’s hope Tudor gives us a black dial version of the FXD soon. If that existed I could live with just a black dial FXD and the Sub 41.

looks great! i really hope they do a refresh of the regular pelagos soon. I don't mind the 42mm case size but it would be great if they could slim it down a bit like this one.

Re: Tudor FXD & straps
PDW makes a nice Ti hardware NATO style. I think Ben has one. I'll look to see if I have a photo for you.
The nylon is fairly standard, but it is stitched and the Ti hardware seems good quality. The only thing is, it might be short for you. My wrist is 7 inches and there isn't much extra length tucked when I wear it.

That FXD is awesome. And I’ve been digging the maratac Ti straps on my U1P—look great and they are priced right. I think I’ll pick up the green PDW Ti nato as well.
Re: Tudor FXD & straps
Thanks. Yes, the titanium Maratac hardware is an exact match for Sinn’s tegiment steel.dukerules wrote:That FXD is awesome. And I’ve been digging the maratac Ti straps on my U1P—look great and they are priced right. I think I’ll pick up the green PDW Ti nato as well.

Re: Tudor FXD & straps
I think this is one of the most interesting dive watches available, and soooo much nicer than the regular Pelagos
Re: Tudor FXD & straps
Agreed, tried on an FXD last month, probably would have bought it if it wasn't spoken for. The regular Pelagos has always left me a bit cold in person.OrangeSport wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 11:38 amI think this is one of the most interesting dive watches available, and soooo much nicer than the regular Pelagos

Congratulations glad you were able to get one.
But I’m confused, straps are 22mm ?

Ruggedly handsome. I’d confess my crimes to that watch any day.

I didn’t write nor produce the show, I simply was interviewed and they went from there. It was embarrassing!

This is true. I was away for much of two weeks and wore the 58 most of that time. I have considered doing the same silly thing, but hopefully won’t make that mistake. The 58 is a terrific watch.Seppia wrote:Looks perfect on you Ed, big congrats on the purchase!
You would be surprised. The BB58 is impossible to take off.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 8:45 amYeah. I'd like one. Sometimes I feel like selling my 42mm PO2500D and picking one up, but I'm not sure that I'd ever wear it.
It got to the point that at times I considered selling my 14060m into the crazy market (I didn’t and won’t)

If they fit the Glidelock clasp from the bronze Le to the regular version I’d probably try it.hoppyjr wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 12:05 amThis is true. That would be nice….and it’s made me consider the BB Pro, but the Forstner jubilee is so comfortable that I don’t miss an adjustable clasp on mine.JP Chestnut wrote:If they fit the Glidelock clasp from the bronze Le to the regular version I’d probably try it.hoppyjr wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 12:05 amThis is true. Re: Tudor FXD & straps
So nice Hoppy, yowza, wishing you a COLOSSAL congratulation there !!!
Am thinking that you will really get used to the case size in time on
this looker. It honestly looks perfect from here if I’m being honest.
And that goes for not only the size, but the the looks, because this
Tudor looks terrific ! ..Just the blue alone really does make you take
a double take because of the unique tone sir. It really is stunning to
tell the truth. Wow, and the design alone looks like it’s in ultra high
definition all the way around.
Tudor is one of those companies that seems to always know what it’s
fans, or watch people in general like, or want. It’s really something !
So is your added CountyComm Hoppy. Boy oh boy, what a combo sir.
What a watch, what a strap, and what a day. ..Enjoy !

I've thought of getting the bronze le just to test out the BB glidelock, but that reference seems like a gimmick.hoppyjr wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 8:21 amThat would be nice….and it’s made me consider the BB Pro, but the Forstner jubilee is so comfortable that I don’t miss an adjustable clasp on mine.JP Chestnut wrote:If they fit the Glidelock clasp from the bronze Le to the regular version I’d probably try it.hoppyjr wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 12:05 amThis is true. I was surprised that the FXD wore much like a regular Pelagos when I tried it on. These wear bigger than a U1 to me, which is about the biggest I want to go at this point. I’m waiting for a 40-41 mm version, which will most likely never happen.
