I've had all those Sinns and really like them, but to be honest I'm not a fan of the H-link bracelet, or to be more specific, i like the oyster more..
i agree, the H link is out of place on the 556 watches. but the 5 link bracelet is awesome on them.

That photo makes me regret that I didn’t grab one of the color dial 556’s.

definitely a keeper for me. it's such a nice balance between casual and more formal. on the H link, it's definitely less capable on the more formal side.

I’ve been wanting to try out an explorer 1 on oyster type bracelet, but don’t have 5k to blow …

What’s the best low-priced homage example? There are a lot of options and thought I’d see what you guys have to suggest?

Thanks dudes
This is just my thoughts. If you’re going for the look of the Exp 1, these guys have you covered. If the idea is to fill the niche of a classic, simple, black dial, reasonable size, rugged watch like the Exp 1, take a look at Grand Seiko.

Oh, one more.

Monta triumph or noble. You can get them reasonable, have adjustable clasps, and may actually cover you instead of the Rolex. The Monta bracelet may be more comfortable than an oyster, and looks like an oyster.

Man oh man, just looking around, it does seem like there are a lot

Thanks Tom - hadn't thought of the Bernhart - wonder if those are still available after the passing of the owner..

You got it Paul.

By the way, I ‘think’ the watch is still available sir. Because I just went
over to their site, and they have a buy it now/add to cart option right
beside the watch. So it looks like they still have them.

A little different, but I have always liked the Archimedes Outdoor Protect lineup. True German made hardened steel 39mm case and price is around $1k. They come in like 6 dial colors. Probably wears really nice as they are thinner than the Explorer 39 and have a shorter lug to lug. They do make a 41mm version.

Um, feeling the same way. I hadn’t seen this model before. Do I need another watch?

I like the bronze just on the bezel; tired of washing my wrist after wearing bronze watches.

So, my wife would love an Explorer, but thinks the new (okay old size) 36mm is too small (even though she is a small woman, she loves to wear my Speedmaster). So we decided to try the Smiths Everest to see how it wears. As luck would have it, Eddie had one of his periodic offerings today—some 200 watches. I logged onto the site at exactly 1400 his time and managed to snag one. Checked 2 minutes later just for shits and giggles and everything was sold out. Demand is certainly there.

Wow - I had no idea Steinhart made those.

Not really my thing, but I've owned a couple Steinhart watches and they are well made. They stand behind them too (when I had an issue, they sent me their Fed-Ex contract # so return shipping was covered. They also sent me a couple emails with repair status updates. Better than average service for sure.)

Just as an aside, I'm not sure why this guy is asking $500. You can buy one direct from Steinhart for $430 (delivery in July).
