Fred was a good guy. Had several of his models over the years. RIP.

That's very sad. I'm both happy and proud to own one of his divers. Proud because it's a US based company.

Sad news for sure. He made great watches at very fair prices, and his service was always fantastic.

Sad news indeed. I’d always heard about Fred’s unmatched customer service and dedication to his company and customers. A shame.

RIP Fred.

I only owned one of his watches, but he seemed like decent person who was able to stay above the challenges of other micro-brand owners of the era.

As an aside, 73 is far too young. The obituary says his death was the result of complications from Covid.

I remember him from way back in the TZ days, before he started the company. "Fred B. Amos" was a highly ubiquitous poster from what I recall.

RIP, Fred.

Dang - I actually spoke to him several times over the years - he would do special orders with modified dials or case backs for guys retiring or joining a special group - and his watches were fantastic for the $$

Sad day indeed

Yup. The older I get, the older "old" gets.

Fred was one of the "good guys". I worked with him a few times over the years and it was always a positive outcome. I think last he told me his son and daughter-in-law was working in the business with him. His watches didn't appeal to everyone, but to the ones that did buy from him they would have no issues doing it again. RIP brother!

Very sad and taken early.

Sorry to hear this, one of my early dive watch purchases was a Bernhardt Sea Shark. Fred's communication and customer service was the best. RIP.

I saw this on Facebook last night. Sad news. I was actually wearing his Globemaster II when I heard the news.

No!

That’s horrid.

He came by the shop last October to have some work done.

He was a hell of a guy if you ever got to know him.

He would always text me his finds with great excitement to sell.

Last was a 2 tone lady’s DJ that sat in a man’s safe for 20 odd years.

He will be missed.

Definitely a good guy, he helped me get on the road of watch collection. He even took in a couple of trade watches when I bought some from him.

Amazing guy. Definitely left a big footprint in the WIS world.

A little belated, but I hadn’t heard this sad news until just now. I’m the proud owner of two Bernhardts, both of which are customized thanks to Fred’s excellent attention to making sure that a customer got exactly what they were looking for. He will certainly be missed in the watch world.

Stunning pieces! Fred was one of the good guys for sure. Everyone in my family has one of his watches.
