New Arrival - Deep Blue Deep Star 1000 Expedition
Deep Blue Deep Star 1000 Expedition
Stan at Deep Blue re-released the Deep Star line of watches recently. Mine arrived this past Tuesday. I always liked the case on these watches so when I saw they were re-releasing them I knew I had to get one. I Ordered the version with the Expedition dial. They also have a Vintage dial version. This is a big watch for guys that like large proportion divers. Dimensions are 45mm diam x 15mm thick x 52mm LtL with 22mm lug width.
New to this re-release is a Swiss Sellita Sw-200 automatic movement which has been customized for Deep Blue. The sapphire exhibition case back shows off the beautiful movement.
With this watch Deep Blue has also introduced a couple of new dive straps. There is a new Waffle strap and a new Tropic style strap. Both are 22mm and are real rubber and very nice quality.
We all like photos so here's a bunch of quick ones I shot yesterday morning.....

Oh, that's pretty nice!
Shame it's a 22mm strap, but it looks like a nice one and there are some decent 22 mm options around..

Love everything except the wonky date window. I just don't get the design decision on this. Never will, I guess.
Re: New Arrival - Deep Blue Deep Star 1000 Expedition
I agree, a no date version would have been perfect. But there is so much more that I like on this watch that I can easily overlook the date window.

Here's another caseback shot.
Re: New Arrival - Deep Blue Deep Star 1000 Expedition
Boy oh boy DEMO, even you're quick shots are pieces of art !
Wow, and this shows why re-releases can be so cool as well, right ?!
It seems like Deep Blue somehow made an already nice watch nicer
actually. With you getting not only a chance to experience this dial in
which you enjoy so much. But also the beautiful Expedition dial too.
Man, that really is great ! And the modern size, along with Sw-200
couldn't be nicer either. It's actually the perfect diver when you think
about it.
Oh, and love the straps they went with as well sir. ..They help give the
watch even more of a vintage appeal. Plus I can imagine they are really
comfortable also. ..A GIANT congratulations to you on this one !!!

Thanks Tom.
I've been wearing it all week and I'm really happy with it.

For a large diver it is very comfortable and hugs the wrist.

Great photos as usual Dave
This is the first DB I actually like. The case is designed for comfort with the recessed case back and lower part of the case is designed to hug the wrist. Well done Deep Blue
I would love to see a lume shot when you have a minute

I don't have a lume shot so here's one from the Deep Blue website. It is a little misleading in that the bezel marker and hand lume is very bright but the hour marker lume fades after a few minutes.
