It does seem to be getting more common.. It's worth being careful...

Wow. That’s crazy. Sorry that happened to your friends. Like to see what would happen if they tried that with a few of members here.

To be fair I think he did well to keep hold off it. I imagine doing that to his wife gave the robbers a chance to escape while he tended to her.

Sorry that happened to your friends; unfortunately, we should all be thinking about best practices to make ourselves hard targets - where you go, how you get there, where you sit relative to entrances, what floor to reserve your hotel room, etc..
Sux, but need to think about these things nowadays..

Whisky has killed more men than bullets, but most men would rather be full of whisky than bullets.

That’s insane. I feel bad for them, there isn’t much you can do when confronted by 3 men, especially if you have a family member with you that you need to protect.
This is a great book. It also has a code you can scan on most pages that will show a demonstration of the moves.

I would say I’ll ventilate people like that, but it’s just a watch. I’ll happily give it up and file the insurance claim if I’m with family. If it’s just me alone, probably a different story, BUT chances are (like Paul et al) that I won’t be caught alone and/or unaware in a place or situation where that could happen.

I would guess that staff at the restaurant tipped off their friends to rob them after seeing the watch. Difficult to see how else the gang knew what he was wearing from a distance in the dark.

When I’m in DC wearing a suit I typically wear my steinhart GMT
if someone were to try to take it, I’d try to bargain with them “how about 400, full kit?”... Sorry, I’m sure it’s too soon..

Re: This happened to friends of mine..
It’s incredibly comfortable and I get a lot of comments on it.. I’ve had it a couple of years which is a record for me hehe
Since I only paid about 400 bonus for it, I wear it just as easily with suits or to the beach, etc. it’s actually a pretty awesome piece because this one is keeping near perfect time and since it’s actually a diver, I don’t have any issues jumping in the ocean with it I had the Rolex version that this one copies and was always worried about being too rough on it.
Lastly, I had the 39 version and didn’t like it nearly as much; 42 is perfect
Edit: this guy is selling a 39 and is in Canada
