Maranez Military/Army
Maranez Military/Army
Came across this today and found it interesting. First the Samui, now this. Not bad if exact "homages" don't bother you. I like 'em, but overpriced IMO. Whatcha' guys think? As if I didn't know.

Probably made in the same factory.
Re: Maranez Military/Army
The guy that wrote the doxa book did a review of the samui and found it to be pretty high quality.

Re: Maranez Military/Army
I had this one for a few months after I sold my Doxa 300T, I was pretty impressed. I think the bracelet might have been on par if not a little better than the Doxa, fit and finish was pretty darn good. I was looking at the Army and about to pull the trigger until something else popped up.
If anyone is interested in the Military, Maranez told me they are running a sale between Sept 20th and 27th

I have a vintage Doxa 300T, but have been enjoying wearing this - Tactical Frog. I also have a teal, yellow, and black dial. I haven't tried a Samui, but the TFs are well made, and offer a lot for little money.

Re: Maranez Military/Army
I don’t know why the dealer you linked charges so much more,
But they are $399 from Maranez and $449 for the DLC.
https://www.maranez.com/samui-army
They are also running a 20% off sale bringing the stainless ones to $319 and the DLC $359
I bought the diver as I didn’t want something that was an exact Doxa or Synchron homage.

Good question. I like the one you bought. Reminds me of an Omega "banana" (dial) and a Zodiac Sea Wolf (hands).tattoo chef wrote: ↑Sat Sep 18, 2021 4:51 amI don’t know why the dealer you linked charges so much more,

Re: Maranez Military/Army
Actually like them very much Steve !
Thank you so so much for the look !!!
Like you are saying, the prices could come down a notch,
or two. But I guess enough people buy them at the prices
they are at. So they just stay where they are, or even will
end going up. However, I just like seeing these, along with
all of the neat variations.
I mean you can find a watch that looks like a classic icon.
Or one that kicks up things on the wild scale. It’s just
really fun to see imho.

Oohhh. I think I will purchase the RED Samui. I guess the MAF discount code will only work during September 20-26.tattoo chef wrote: ↑Sat Sep 18, 2021 4:51 amI don’t know why the dealer you linked charges so much more,

In for the Red Samui. Let me see if the case quality is same as my Synchron Military. The screw down crown is more recessed on the Samui.

Re: Maranez Military/Army
Yeah, I was able to get one as well during the discount period. I really just wanted the bracelet for my Synchron Military, with the idea I would just flip the watch head later, but maybe it'll stick around as a fun beater.Axelay2003 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 7:02 pmIn for the Red Samui. FWIW, I actually think the GMT bezel on the Samui is more practical for my needs than the no deco bezel on the Doxa.
FlyingDoc posted some pics of his red Samui where he polished the outer ring and painted the numbers red to match the dial. It is definitely more Doxa imitating this way, but I can't argue with how it looks.
Re: Maranez Military/Army
Mine arrived last Friday. I sized the bracelet this morning and got it on the wrist. I have to say, this is my first Maranez and I am very impressed with the quality of this one. I went for the cream color dial / stainless steel version. Finishing is scary close to the Synchron Military as far as quality. The bezel on the Maranez is a little more "coarse" in action than the Syncron but it is firm with no back-play. Case finishing is done extremely well and dial is printed beautiful. The hands are actually nicer than the Synchron Military. Oh and lume is spectacular on the Maranez.
Here's a first photo, I'll have more.

I just got the diver, and my thoughts echoes Demo above.
Really nice quality for the price.
Quick and dirty shots here until I get in the studio today or tomorrow.

Another pic....
Bracelet is quite nice on these. Real, individual beads of rice links, very nicely finished, easy to size single screw links, machined clasp with machined fold-out wetsuit extension.

I like the look of them but mention Maranez on the Facebook Doxa forum and they go into meltdown

Re: Maranez Military/Army
I received my red samui yesterday and noticed that the date wheel changes 5 minutes after the hour. My other watches date wheel change just before or right on the hour.
My Synchron Military date wheel changes exactly on the hour.
Is that normal to change date after the hour?
