I wouldn’t give him one cent of my money, nor would I ever review or cover one of his products.
What a ridiculous ordering, plank, wait system for an homage watch and nothing more.

So let me get this straight - it’s an expensive entirely made in Japan with seiko movement piece, but there’s still “administrative delay” for Bill which presumably means just looking at the watches he spec’d out and did no work on himself?
He’s not even selling the “master bill” assembly of the Kingston and Key West anymore, now you’re paying him to mailbox (with likely significant delay) a watch from a supplier in Japan.

Pre-order started back in May of 2020. Back then you could order a custom Trench sweater with it. My buddy ordered one at that time. I am not sure what this is pre-order is. https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/torn ... 85/page-10
EDIT: So I guess the first round was Plank-orders and this one is a regular pre-order?

Nope. The NE's are perfect imo. We have replaced quite a few 6r15's with them and have excellent results. The 6r35's have been a huge disappoint.

Sold it here a week after I got it. Great watch, I just didn’t need it.Captdave wrote:Let me know when you tire of this one.hoppyjr wrote:

There will be another run late this year, likely no date version.

Will it still have the engraving on the side of the case?hoppyjr wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 8:36 pmSold it here a week after I got it. Great watch, I just didn’t need it.Captdave wrote:Let me know when you tire of this one.hoppyjr wrote:

I don’t know, but would assume so. I didn’t notice that in wearing it.gonzomantis wrote:Will it still have the engraving on the side of the case?hoppyjr wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 8:36 pmSold it here a week after I got it. Can someone tell me what a plank owner is? All I can think of is this- planking.toxicavenger wrote:Pre-order started back in May of 2020. Back then you could order a custom Trench sweater with it. If I remember correctly, "plank owners" got some extra stuff in their kit. I think the Kingston folks got an extra case or something.tattoo chef wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 6:23 amCan someone tell me what a plank owner is? There was some hoopla about plank owners being nearly able to create a second watch using the extra parts they received.

Re: Mr. Yao Crackpot's new release - Tornek Rayville
Kingston plank received a Kingston at a discounted price + a spare bracelet, Case, dial, crystal, bezel... (everything except mvmt and caseback)
the plank is offering extras, but I'm guessing he is using the # of planks to pay for his upfront $$ required at the factory?

It's a naval reference to a ship's original crew at the time of its commissioning. Yao uses it to refer to his original investors in a particular project and, as others have said, MKII plank owners usually get some extras.tattoo chef wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 6:23 amCan someone tell me what a plank owner is? Re: Mr. Yao Crackpot's new release - Tornek Rayville
The plank concept isn't a terrible one, but it's kind of like overdoing insurance. Spare parts where spares may be tough to find in the future. Makes the assumption that damage will happen, that you won't sell the watch first, that you'll want to spend the money to repair the watch IF it's damaged.

He wouldn't know it wasn't the Maserati logo

Too hard to support this guy no matter how good the watch. His previous odd mlm ponzi whatever gives him zero credibility. I do like the watch though.

I like it and would have been interested if it wasn't associated with that Yao guy.
I assume pre-order and wait forever is still his business model?

He doesn't "Benchmade" these. So not really sure what could delay it other then delays in shipping and manufacturing delays overseas.mfxr wrote:I like it and would have been interested if it wasn't associated with that Yao guy.

Too thick, suboptimal movement, and playing the Yao waiting game is a non-starter for me.

i think the extra parts was a one time thing. this time you get a sweater with the watch.HapaHapa wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 1:59 pmThe plank concept isn't a terrible one, but it's kind of like overdoing insurance. HIs offerings -- Seafighter, Stingray, and Blackwater - were much more affordable. Plus, you pick the design, he confirmed, and delivered in 6-8 weeks.... I had those 3, plus the Vantage
He rolled out the Kingston and SM300 after he read "The Life and Times of B Madoff"
