Mr. Yao Crackpot's new release - Tornek Rayville
Re: Mr. Yao Crackpot's new release - Tornek Rayville
For the first time in this stupid watch-buying hobby/obsession of mine, I pre-ordered a watch that I won't see until December, but it definitely wasn't this one, and I really don't think I'd do it again – even from a reputable source. Like, I get a pre-order phase that's a few weeks, or a month at most, but this is all just so ridiculous.

Looks like a bunch of MK2 nerds are super heated regarding the new Paradive. They did pre-orders on them, now right before they are about to release the watches they are being labeled under the Tornek Rayville name instead of MK2. Kind of weird for sure.

So is MKii trying to change the name over completely?toxicavenger wrote:Looks like a bunch of MK2 nerds are super heated regarding the new Paradive. I don’t see how this is an issue for the paradong because it’s a sterile dial aside from the tiny mkii at bottom.

The brand change is kind of odd.
T-R (as far as I know) never produced the Paradive style watch, so keeping it under the MKII brand makes more sense to me.
I bought the Stingray II because I liked the style, but preferred the more minimalist MKII dial. The T-R is essentially the same watch in all respects except for the dial.
Maybe Bill is going to put all his “almost ready to wear” models under the T-R brand and keep the MKII brand for his “bench crafted” models?

I will never understand the fascination with either of referred to parties. But, to each their own.

I hear ya … this hobby is generally not a money maker as it is. No need to have either of them “help” me.Bradystraps wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 6:40 pmI will never understand the fascination with either of referred to parties. But, to each their own.

"Tornek-Rayville’s internal operations are split into two symbiotic units, the National Integrated Research & Development Department and Sea Point Applied Research."
STU-ND (Sea Test Unit - North Detachment)
STU-ND is the first subunit of Sea Point Applied Research. Created to focus on aquatic testing, with a concentration on cold water operations. The STU-ND team is adept at a variety of waterborne activities and skill sets and also known to be rather hard on their gear.
He gets an A+ for marketing. I guess we'll have to wait for the hot water testing unit to see if you can wear it in the shower.

While Kobold is an outright crazy liar, Yao is chock-full-o-bullshit.pbj204 wrote:"Tornek-Rayville’s internal operations are split into two symbiotic units, the National Integrated Research & Development Department and Sea Point Applied Research."

It’s probably him counting money in one room and then another guy throwing out the latest shipment of hour hands in the other.
