Removing Scratches from a Titanium watch
What is the easiest way to remove scratches from a Titanium watch? Is it something I should leave to a watch repairer? I’m a bit nervous trying it myself.
The watch specifically is a Pelagos Ti

I used something similar to this Fiberglass scratch brush a while back on my Pelagos. I got mixed results but for the price it’s worth a shot.
Economy Scratch Brush, Fiberglass, 4-1/2 Inches | BRS-294.50 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0058EDPZU/re ... NW4DB3H647
I know Beau at LA Watch Works refinished a Pelagos a while back with great results per his usual. That’s also another route.
Good to have options.

I’ve used a tool like that, possibly from Bergeron. Worked pretty well.

I’ve read the ink eraser side (blue) of this is great at removing scratches from Ti.
Re: Removing Scratches from a Titanium watch
when I had my pelagos I would use one of those gray erasers specifically made to erase ink pens. It took scratches/scuffs right out of the bracelet like it was nothing

I used an eraser on mine as well
The pen looking took a few posts above is better for SS I think

I also used an eraser with good luck. With raw Ti watches like the Pelagos, the surface oxidizes to give it the dull shade of gray. A fresh scratch reveals bare metal so they really show up, but eventually the scratch oxidizes to match the rest of the watch and fades.

Re: Removing Scratches from a Titanium watch
Had a JLC Amvox 1 in Ti in the past...while I really liked the color of the metal vs. stainless, I didnt like how easily it scratched in my opinion...i also decided I liked the weight of a heavier watch (dont ask me why on this)....all of this happened some yrs ago but this post and thread changes eveything... I had sworn off Tidnslater wrote:I also used an eraser with good luck. With raw Ti watches like the Pelagos, the surface oxidizes to give it the dull shade of gray. I knew the scratch pen existed but had no idea about just using an eraser, guess I hadn't really considered that scratches left alone would fade as well...

Protect your hands and lungs if you decide to use the fiberglass scratch pen.
I haven't used one on titanium, but they work well on brushed stainless steel.
