MR340 kayak ultra ?

Post by TIMUR » Mon Jul 12, 2021 4:55 pm

Just wondering if any of you fine people doing the race?

Factoids if you don’t know:
-kayak
-340 miles
-Kansas City to StLouis on Missouri
-86hr time cap
-I think it’s like the longest kayak race, anywhere?

I have been obsessing over what watch to wear. Sensible Tim thinks a GShock.
DWC Tim thinks an Explorer II

That’s awesome!!

Wear the Rolex - that’s a long truck; it’ll be entertaining to look at that dial during the trip

Never heard of this...do you just camp along the way? I am guessing hammock camping would be good so you lighten the gear?

Best of luck to you and please share some stories when you return.

+1 for the Rolex

That sounds like a real adventure. I've only tried Kayaking once and thoroughly enjoyed it. As for the watch, I think I'd find something inbetween sensible Tim & DWC Tim

I wear a GShock kayaking, but that's whitewater. Assuming there's no danger of bashing boulders, I might be tempted to wear the Explorer, but I'd probably side with Andy and wear something in between, like maybe a Seiko. Sounds like an amazing trip, have fun!

You'll need to watch out for marauding gangs of llamas, who are likely to target anyone wearing an Explorer II.

No, it's not Tourettes.

Sounds interesting. Just make sure to eat some toasted rav's before you leave St. Louis.

That's a loooong paddle! Wear the Rolex, build memories with your favorite watches. Plus, awesome wrist shots!

Wow, that sounds like fun.

I always wanted to paddle the tidal part of the Hudson (from Troy to NYC), but haven't gotten around to it, and probably never will.

As for which watch to wear, I'd go with an SKX007 or Turdle on a NATO strap. Bring a few spare straps.

I don't like wearing bracelet watches when paddling. As the day wears on and my wrist changes size slightly, the watch is either sliding down and impinging on my hand, or it's too tight.

Have fun!

Explorer on a NATO or maybe one of those Erika elastic straps would be my choice.

You’ll get all the security you’d want and, as said above, you’ll be wearing the watch you love during a memorial event.
