New Citizen Promaster Aqualand models

Post by AtomicTom » Mon May 17, 2021 10:52 am

Guys, have you guys seen Citizen's new Promaster Aqualand already?

There look to be three models so far including a pepsi-like bezeled version,
one with green accents, and a brand new blue variation. All having 50mm
stainless steel cases, 200M WR, sapphire crystals, black dials with cool
hands, markers, and sub-dials, Eco-Drive movements, and rubber straps.
Then the blue version even comes with JAWZ rescue tools also.

Just a few pics...

When did Invicta buy Citizen?

Wow, that is... INTENSE...

Funny it does not look bad but a bit confusing... all the extra sub dials, hands, numbers...

I kind of like it but only to look at. I wonder if there are simple 3 hander ones like the Ecozilla, anymore? That one seems to be easier to use and tell the time...

Yep, great funky watches for the summer. Also, re-edition of 1300m diver is coming (eco-drive, 200m wr?) and a new. automatic cal. 9051 in 800m re-edition promasters (also 200m wr?)

Not sure I care for the case shape.

So citizen just doesn’t want to compete with Seiko at all?
Having Miyota 9015 in their stable and rich history in dive watches it’s a missed opportunity IMO

 Was thinking that you guys might get a kick out of these. :)

Actually think they are really terrific honestly. Although the size would definitely
not look right on my wrist. Maybe if they possibly made multiple sized variations
of these that would be really nice. Nevertheless, really just think the designs are
impressive, and keep the lineage of previous classic models going. Which is fantastic
to see.

Something else fantastic to see, are all those new releases Martin ! :salute: Holy cow, and
they are three handers as well, which keeps things simple too.

Thanks so much for the news, and thanks a ton for chiming in everybody !!!

I like the weird square cased ones; especially the blue one.

Agree. They certainly start with a reissue an OG Aqualand with an Ecodrive movement. I would rock one as long as lug width is 22 or 20 (OG lug width is 24mm):

The weird case comes from an older model:

Tuna style model, which would work with a 9015 movement:

I dig the gold accents :fro:

As an Aqualand whore, all of these are a miss for me. I prefer the OG models.

As usual, am totally with you guys, it's difficult to top the originals. :salute: :)
There is just something about the designs when they are first released,
or seen for the first time. And the models that come afterward always
seem to struggle to live up to expectations. Having said that though, I'm
happy that they keep on trying. :) Because all of these are still really
cool watches imho. And the solar theme with the Eco-Drive seeming to
be in everything now is nice as well.

Would be just fantastic though if they made multiple size versions of all
of these. I think that's maybe the biggest issue for a lot of people.

Have to thank you guys once again for sharing your thoughts on these !!!
